shake Again Mr. Nine,
You have predicted it as it came to be...
No i didn't get to see the fight, so i have not read
this thread other that to see who won.
i shall indeed wait til next week and see it for myself.
Where is ZAB JUDAH???

He is somewhere sucking really bad and wondering why he thought that he could possibly beat Kostya Tszyu.

OK...THAT TEARS IT!!!
no, really.
i still think the only reason he lost that fight, was his inexpierience in getting hit REALLY HARD.
he tryed to get up too fast, and quiet as it's kept,
the stoppage was fast.
i've seen people get almost slaughtered, without the fight gettin called THAT FAST, but then,
he hasn't faught sence then. that could seem suspect.

Judah has fought one fight since being knocked out by Tszyu. He won a decision in a lackluster performance against Omar Weis in July. Judah did not look impressive at all...

He actually fell down twice in the Tszyu fight... he got up, staggered around and fell down again. He was as good as knocked out and he would have been hurt if the fight had gone on. His behavior after the fight was inexcusable as well and he should not have been allowed to box for a full year for his attack on the referee and his throwing a stool into a crowd of people.

Judah needs to grow up and become a man before he steps into the ring again because as it stands, he is just a punk kid with a bad attitude and a big ego.

Just my opinion, of course.

De La Hoya is the Kind of Fighter where you have to have good defense&use the Full Ring.Vargas was tough but He was too Predictable overall IMHO.De La Hoya Pulled a Ala Ali Rope a Dope Tactic on Him&Tired Vargas out.I hope there is a Re-Match&that Vargas takes a basic Attack because He has to Know that while De La Hoya has some Soft Spots Dude Can Jab the Hell out of You.that is His Bread&Butter.

Here are the official scorecards:

What fight was Patrician Jarman-Manning watching??? This woman should NEVER be allowed to judge another fight... EVER. She has been a terrible judge in quite a number of fights that I have seen.

I think Vargas is just feinting. It's an old boxing trick.

I'm still pretty confident he will win...

Get up Vargas, get up!!

By this time, though, the 24-year-old Vargas was on shaky legs and blood was flowing down his face from a cut beneath his right eye. It proved to be a handy target for the left hand of De La Hoya.

"I'm sorry, I know it sounds brutal but when I see blood I want more," De La Hoya said.

Remember I said I hate Pay-Per-View?

Three of my friends decided 2 go ahead and get it, and split the fight 4 ways...$12.50 a piece. biggrin

Having seen the fight, as it turned out...we all came away with the feeling that we definately got our money's worth...and then some!

I was going 4 Vargas.

I really thought Oscar's time had come...at 1st I thought I was right. In all honesty, the first half of the fight belonged 2 Vargas. The constant slams 2 Oscar's right cheek stunned him early and everyone knew it but Oscar ("he did'nt touch me", yet his face was badly bruised red...lol). If Vargas had him against the ropes more often, he could've done it.

After the 7th round, the fight clearly belonged 2 Oscar. He stunned Vargas in the 10th with a devastating blow 2 the head that caused his legs 2 wobble...and finished him off in the 11th with a tremendous knock down, and then a pummeling against the ropes that caused the ref 2 stop the fight.

My voice was hoarse from all the yelling and screaming.

It was a great fight...worth every penny.

I hate 2 admit it, but Oscar, u showed the world that u cannot b taken 4 granted, u ARE a true champion... this last bout should shut all of us naysayers the fuck up!

No, you were thinking of Soulpower!

Sorry, perhaps I should have commented on how terrific it is to see the photo of one man's fist making such AWESOME contact with another man's head, as he KNOCKS HIM THE F*$# OUT!!!

Or better yet, I should have complained that the photo didn't actually show "Vargas" at the point of losing consciousness or with areas of actual bleeding. These omissions are highly disappointing for someone who lacks "constructive and imaginative" thought.

I'll bet you're kind of pissed to see that the days of the Roman Gladiators are over, when REAL MEN went at it! Now they wear those sissy gloves and the action gets stopped just when it's getting good and bloody! Damned officials.

No Ice, I'm not a journalist, but I do think boxing in it's current form is a grotesque, unnecessary sporting anachronism. As a libertarian, I can only imagine that you disagree, very likely for the same reason that you disagree with laws that force riders of motorcycles to wear helmets.

If I were you, I would run to the hospital and see if someone can stop that bleeding heart of yours. It is cool if you don't like boxing, but don't try to act like you are some kind of morally superior person because you don't like it. You amuse me with you self-righteous comments though, so keep it up.

I supopse I should show up here and take my lumps, since I picked Vargas to win. Really, I think he could have with a little more experience. It looked like Oscar was surprised at how strong Fernando was, and for a couple of times it looked like Vargas could've had him. I think Vargas just ran out of gas and all of those jabs took their toll. He stopped throwing around the 6th round.

Good fight. I wouldn't mind seeing another one.

Another thing that went in the favor of Vargas at the first of the fight was that De La Hoya had not been in a fight in over 15 months and the rust was there.

Vargas seemed to be confused by De La Hoya's boxing abilities and was unable to pin DLH to the ropes. The only hope that Vargas had in the fight was to get DLH to engage in a brawl and DLH was too smart for that. DLH won the fight on pure boxing ability as I had said that he would... the fight would have been very different if DLH would have tried to slug it out with Vargas as he did with an aging JC Chavez.

At any rate, DLH definitely gave Vargas a serious boxing lesson at the end of the fight and showed him that he is a true champion.

This seems like an appropriate soapbox for this:

"In Defense of Boxing (why I enjoy it)"

Many would label this sport uncivilized, unjust, corrupt and brutal - and in many ways they would all be right. Many would rather this sport deemed illegal and banned - and in all ways they would be wrong. The participants in a boxing match represent the height of courage. To step into that ring and face another opponent, with millions of people watching around the world, is an extraordinary act of independent bravery and will.

Boxing, at its best (like we saw Saturday night) is the purest and clearest display of individiual competition that man has yet devised, outside of chess - but that's not nearly as physical and nowhere near as captivating to watch. And who would have this sport outlawed? Who would be the one to say that the combatants have NO RIGHT to WILLINGLY engage in a competition of pure primal skill, in its most basic and fundamental form, devoid of weapons, lawyers, treaties, tanks or armor (sans the cup protectors, which I'm sure we would all agree on)?

Many would cite the danger of the sport as reason enough to either disdain it or outlaw it alltogether. Last year, more people died or suffered irreservable injuries racing cars (or driving them periond, for that matter) than in all the boxing matches in the world put together. If you posess the balls and fortitude to face off, one on one, with rules, an opponent of equal ability while the whole world watches, and the money you receive is agreed upon, theh who will deny you that right?

Yes, it's violent. Yes. it's corrupt. Yet, at its core, it is the ultimate test of bravery, will and determination.

And so much for all that shit. All I know is, I was entertained, and have tremendous respect for anyone with nads big enough to get in that ring.

You are 100% right, Herb... as usual. It never ceases to amaze me how some people will sit around and condemn boxing... as far as I know, the boxers are willing participants and actually CHOSE to be boxers. As far as injuries go in boxing, sure there are some minor injuries, some serious injuries and rarely someone dies. People have been seriously injured, paralyzed or died in Football too...

A question for the bleeding heart types: should all activities in which the willing participants have the possibility of being injured be outlawed, or should these participants be allowed their human right to freedom of choice and be allowed to do as they please?

I, for one, am sick of hearing people call out for restrictions on our basic human freedoms and rights...

Geez!

What a fight, eh! I think Vargas has a future, but was surprised at how tired he got early in the fight.

Oscar was awesome! He has charisma, for sure.

Me and two of my white friends watched it with several other races...IceNine you silly!
