has anyone here replaced their own IPod battery? My battery is officially fucked. It forgets its charged & just conks out. I just restored it TWICE, made sure it was fully charged before loading music back on it - 4 songs in it dies
I don't wanna think about another player right now, don't wanna send it away to Apple for weeks @ a cost of $60+ either There's a replacement kit from Ipodbatteries.com for $15.95. Has anyone done it? I've put drives in my cpu before so it won't be challenging for me, I just wanna know if anyone's actually gone that route...

RMA it to Apple if it's under warranty. "Waiting to be banned"

I've had it a few years, I don't think it's still under warranty by now but I'd have to check. & in doing that I'd be without it for WEEKS, I don't think I can

you usually get one year of coverage from the date of purchase, and if u didnt get the 3 year apple care thinger than you're not covered...

If you've installed drives on your cpu, I wouldn't recommend replacing the battery by yourself
I've heard stories about the iPod batteries dying, and costing a lot to replace. It's the only reason why I don't buy an iPod. That, and the fact that I wouldn't spend so much on an MP3 player.

Okay, maybe I'm not up on my nerd speak or something I've added memory & a new cdr drive to an old computer, a dvd drive to my newer computer. I set up my own tivo/switcher/vcr/tv deals, etc. So I'm not completely foreign to opening up a machine & tinkering w/ electrical shit. Now why exactly don't you think I can do it? They have kits that explain it step by step Nevermind, maybe this is a dumb thread. **ordering kit** [Edited 3/22/07 12:17pm]

Okay, maybe I'm not up on my nerd speak or something yes, it was just a joke, you can't add a drive to a cpu I wonder if the kit really works, is all. But considering that getting the battery changed by Apple is expensive and Ipods' hard drives often fail after a while anyway, I think it would be worth a try. It would suck to pay to have the battery change only to have the Ipod die. It might just save money My Legacy

I know people who have them, and have no problems are actually happy with their purchace, but I still think it's a bit expensive. When you actually go through the process ot changing the battery, remember - don't lick the battery. Not good for you.

DAMN y'all! I wonder if the kit really works, is all.
