Check out a scene from my big movie here...

Just a little (rough cut/sound) scene from a much longer film. The reactions are mixed, but some negative reactions are harsh! It's really weird to have people "publish" various opinions of your stuff.

she says "you're such a god." to the protagonist, who then loses the mood for some mysterious reason....

I'm working in the evenings trying to finish the whole thing, about halfway through, and it runs 1/2 an hour so far... so I think the final film might be a bit over an hour long.

I really like the dramatic strings. I like almost any dramatic Classical string piece. I saw where a critic didn't like it.....different strokes, you know. You can't please everyone. You must have thick skin too to be in that industry. Your film did leave us hanging.....was that the point?

I know what you mean. Someone bashed my movie based on only the trailer saying that it looked like just a lot of walking which really wasn't the case at all. Another guy didn't even explain himself and just wrote "Looks like crap." Come to find out it was some 16 year old who just didn't get it. I've had more positive feedback than anything, but unfortunately it's all been done verbally rather than in a written form.

I need to make another movie. Damn my actor who won't come back from Vegas! lol

The dress is loaned for our film from none other than Chloe who won last year on Project Runway.

She lives here in Houston and opened up a retail store that we were allowed to film inside of for a scene that happens right before the couch scene.

She was going to make a cameo as a sales girl, but was out of town when we filmed.

I like the score in conjunction with the scene but as it's only a snippet from a movie I find it difficult to put into context. It isn't shot badly though. I like the lighting used, maybe if anything it just a touch too dark, but only a touch mind you. This is how I viewed it, son. Good show wink

Do you often appear/direct yourself in your own films? I like the shirt you're wearing. Very snazzy thumbs up!

I'm not in the clip!razz

or were you kidding?

I accidentlly uploaded a darker version of the scene. On the one I usually show, I've tweaked the brightness to a more normal level on the faces.

Ah, I see. My Scorsese eye did think it was a tad dim on the lighting front wink

So that naughty boy on the couch getting then refusing action wasn't you? hmmm
Damn! That reinforces my point about the lighting then lol

What did you aim to deliver to the audience watching that particular scene? Can I have it from your perspective, bruva? smile

The movie is called Christian Roane, and he is the character on the couch, a well known posh player who, as this scene indicates, has got something on his mind or a major shift in thinking going on. The movie is about his attempt to shift his character and it's effect on a girl he actually cares about. But the story has some odd twists and turns that may surprise and even shock.

That particular scene functions like an extreme short blip of a film in my opinion. It presents a stereotypical (movie) situation, then through an almost dance like choreography of little actions and cuts, it shows a twist. And I like the way the music makes it almost comical when he throws her off.

I put it up there for kicks, it's not really meant to stand alone.

He is! What the hell is wrong with Christian Roane? Why's he so moody?

She did an incredible job, for a non professional actor. I located her the day we shot when other people fell through. She also bears a strong resemblence to that red haired actress.... Jullianne Moore. Did I butcher that spelling?

Your last sentence vindicates my earlier thoughts of trying to put the scene/meaning of the clip into a context, as I didn't want it to come across as a negative criticism. I like your stuff and I like your style.

I guess if it's only up there for the reasons you expressed it's pointless me asking what you actually want to evoke from the viewer. But tell me anyway razz What reaction do you want drwan out from them?

The scoring to the scene was excellent, IMO. Kudos for that wink On second viewing I enjoyed and appreciated much more the sutble camera panning before the cuts to the close up angles, and then again as you wound up the shot. Very nicely executed.

I'm unsure of what she whispers to the central character mid way through the sequence. Is it, "You're such a con"?

The sound mix does have to be fixed later. She says "you're such a god." My intention with the scene (in the context of the movie) is:

1. Present the audience with a breather in the form of a purely visual scene. The scenes prior to this scene are filled with dialogue. The following scenes are also heavy on dialogue.

2. Create more interest in the central character by trying to get the audience to ask "what the hell is wrong with Christian Roane?" in their minds.

On a very serious note, I've been thinking (this isn't just because you're brown and like, foreign looking) but are you any relation to Manoj 'Knight' Shyamalan? hmmm

Please try and reply with your powers of telepathy, at first. If unsuccessful then by all means don't hesitate to use boring conventional methods smile

I'm impressed with the choreography and overall pacing. Yes the actress is good! The line "You're such a god" and the sexuality seem a bit overwrought, but that has to do with my taste. And then again it's very hard to judge your aesthetic and the overall success of it from just one scene. You're working at a pretty high level, though, to pull that off. I also was impressed to see so much happening through visuals and music alone with only one line of dialogue.
