...just the way you are...

what about your past makes you the way you are today? and what about today will make you the person you hope/fear/anticipate to be in the future? and is there anybody today whom you think you've inspired?

for me, my dysfunctional family has a lot to do with the way i am today. and growing up poor has given me a sense of compassion i would probably not otherwise have.

as for today, i think the friends i've made (human and animal) have inspired me to be a better person down the road.

i have no idea if i've inspired anybody. then again, none of my friends or family probably think they have, so chances are SOMEthing i've said or done has influenced somebody.

gotta love the universe! mushy

just to be careful how you say and do things, people come into your life for reasons they either stay or fly off like the wind, the ones that stay you know they are going to be there for you, and the ones that vanish from your life are the ones who never really cared.

I would say that every tiny fragment of my past has helped to shape who I am today ...and as for being who and what I am today my intentions are that I will always change and grow in different areas and not become stagnent.

My family is huge in who I am and what I am ... still today biggrin In 100rds of positive ways and some not so positive as well

I hold deep value in my friends ... sme i have known and grown with over 35 yrs now. I am honored by them in my life and learn so much through them and their lives.

My children have been by far my greatest teachers and have in the past 20 yrs touched every aspect of who I am and what I am ... OMG they mean so much to me I can not even express their value in my life !

Yeah I totally agree.. throughout all my ups and downs and scrapes I have had in life it has made me more compassionate, understanding and I have grown into a better human being and someone I am now comfortable with being.

I used to reflect too much on the past and it would make me really sad, but looking back, it has made me a stronger person and a more interesting character, and indeed I ahve volumes and volumes of stories to tell people, advice to share, love to give and a total acceptance of life as a whole.

If I can bounce back from the depths of despair, I know others can.. and its a really good feeling. I am a fighter and a survivor.. and yeah I still make foolish jibes and jokes, but thats just silly me.. batting eyes

i think all the stuff that happened after my mom passed kinda helped to mold me into the woman i am today. a lot of it was pretty bad, but among all the bad stuff was a bit of a silver lining. also, my dad's been in my corner and been present my whole life. if he'd dropped outta the picture at any point during my pre-adolescent and teenage years, there's no telling what the hell would've happened with me.

i've no idea if i've inspired anybody, really.

My dysfunctional family as well... I don't talk about it much but my father is an alcoholic with a gambling problem. He's also morbidly obese. And he has a HORRIBLE temper. Serious anger issues. I believe most of his problems stem from being drafted into the Viet Nam war when he was only 19 or 20. I learned he seriously considered defecting to Canada, but didn't want to leave my mom and his family. War does awful things to people, even when they come home safely, and the effects last for generations.

and what about today will make you the person you hope/fear/anticipate to be in the future?
My wonderful friends. I only hope I can be for them what they've been for me.

and is there anybody today whom you think you've inspired?
I believe I am inspiring to my niece, and that makes me feel all gooey inside, to be honest. I really adore her. I love that she's 16 now and still wants to have sleepovers with me like we did when she was younger. She is not the typical teen who wants nothing to do with adults cause they aren't cool. Of course, I'm not your typical aunt either. wink

oh yeah most definately, every lesson good or bad is something you have to take with you, because it shapes you because at some point you become formless on your journeys through life you become more fluid in your choices and able to breathe without the idea of good, bad or indifferent just be.

i had no idea, Carrie! hug my father's issues were also triggered by the war (WWII in his case), and his own upbringing. i've since made peace with him and moved on, and it pains me to see my siblings not being able to do that yet and, as a result, being miserable all the time. sad

i feel similarly about my niece, although we haven't had much time to spend together. she's a great kid (or young woman - man, she's almost 19!) and i'm proud of what she's done with her life.

yup, because you dont know if you have inspired or influenced someone unless they tell you, its all about just being, and extending your vibe to others that feel what you're saying or doing, sometimes you dont have to speak to someone to feel an influence.

I had a lot of resentment for many years towards both of my parents, but I've let it all go for the most part. And I can honestly say I love them both very much. While my dad's got his issues, he's also incredibly intelligent, he has a great sense of humour, I got my love of books and music from him, I could actually go on and on here. lol I think, too, my dad and I are a LOT alike. And I find that terrifying sometimes. But it also reminds me how much good there is about him too.
