Anybody here ever use Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006? I'm giving up on Photoshop for the time being. I don't like how it handles RAW files and it's far too complicated for what I need. I'm also giving up on the lossy ACDSee too though, so I've downloaded GIMP and I'm hoping it saves at the highest jpeg quality.
However, I've heard about this Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006, which can use RAW, and I was wondering if it's any good. Anybody here use it? I'm trying to download it now, but it looks like I'll have to go and buy it. I understand that this thread does not have mass appeal, but at least if it falls flat it'll not be because it's inherently crap in content, but rather in the decision to post it in the first place.

Behold, the worst thread in the history of the org!
Never mind. It took me about a minute longer than it takes to start a thread to realise this should have been posted on a photography site. . [Edited 3/3/07 4:08am]

Isn't it! I tried Gimp and don't like it. Can't they just have one window? All that shit being all over the place is distracting and unintuitive.

Office 2000 had image manipulating program bundled in it that was alot like photoshop. I can see them reintroducing something like that. I liked it. Thought it was great, but Photoshop was just easier to use.

So long as it deals with RAW, has levels, colour and I can clone out tiny imperfections I'll be happy. Gimp is a good program, very competitive with Photoshop if you consider it's free (and yes, I do remember it was you who recommended to me a long time ago), but it gives me a headache. I wish I could strip it down to what I need.

it's like you've got this uncanny bad-thread-resurrecting ability. Since this is now a hot topic again, you may be interested to know that I downloaded this software and it's like a simplified looking photoshop. Ultimately, though, it's just not quite as good. I'm sticking with ACDSee Pro, PS SC2 and Neat Image.
