He barely says a word, but is totally believable. In Cape Fear he's way over the top, hamming it up to perfection. The scenes with Juliet Lewis are brilliant, and the one in the theater (where they smoke pot & she sucks his finger) was supposedly improvised. Can't really go wrong with him. My Legacy

Jackie Brown comes across as more real. [Edited 3/21/07 12:48pm] My Legacy

His movies are usually really well crafted, but not that real. They're a little too perfect. I've liked them all. I was blown away at how perfect Reservoir Dogs was. But Jackie Brown was different. They said things without saying too much (except maybe Sam Jackson's character). Sometimes just one word, and sometimes just a look--like that whole beginning sequence at the airport. How was the new Lynch movie? [Edited 3/21/07 14:22pm] My Legacy

NDRU said: How was the new Lynch movie? It was very fulfilling in that it was completely bonkers, beyond anything he's done before (which says a lot) It was definitely a pretty hardcore experience because it was so out there. I felt it was a bit flawed though, being his first shot in digital video. It made the production too easy, as usual, which lends itself to a sloppier script -- not nearly as tight and perfectly shaped as Mulholland Drive and I miss the beauty of the filmed image. But it was fascinating creative masterpiece, a strong, potent dose of Lynch, if you're into that kind of thing. You could call it a pure Lynchian experience. | |

That's surprising since he's so into mood, and film (in my opinion) creates mood better than digital. My Legacy
