Have you ever known someone to "make it"?

Have you ever had a close friend or relative make it in show business, either movies or the recording industry? I ask because I have known a few to break into the biz. The closest one of three, I considered to be one of my best friends. It seems as his success grew, the less time that he had for our friendship. So unlike those days that he needed a recomendation for a job, let alone a ride to work. As his success grew, it seemed that when we associated with one another, an air of phoniness came into play. I felt that other "friends" of his, who had not been nearly the friend that I had, were sucking up to him because of his new "celebrity" status. Where were they when he needed a ride to work? I am not trying to sound bitter, just stating my opinion of the situation. The other two basically remained grounded, though they had significant success themselves. I am not a hanger-on, or one to be around you for what you are, as oppossed to who you are. Just in case any one of them are prince.org members themselves, I will only reveal who one of the three is One of three, and one of two who remained grounded, is Kenya Moore...she was Ms. Michigan as well as Ms. USA! She was first runner up in the Ms. World pageant, and was featured in several music videos, and feature films such as Waiting to Exhale and Menage A Trois'! Kenya is a beautfiful person inside and out. I am proud to say that I know her, and she has never changed the way she treats people that she was cool with. She has a web-site www.KenyaMoore.com...check it out. She is the bomb. She was also Ms. USA when "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" debuted on the Miss USA pagent. I am proud to say that I know her,not because of who she is, but more so because of what she stands for. As for the "friend" who made it and lost his head, I will never reveal who he is... because though he is not the friend that he could be, does not mean that I should not be the friend that I can be! Just wondering has this happened to anyone else?

I don't know why I am so "shocked" that some people are filled with such negativity when it comes to certain threads. I do not consider myself name dropping by mentioning Ms. Moore. I mentioned her as an example to let people know that though she has achieved a certain level of success in Hollywood, she has remained a down to earth person, and loyal to those who were loyal to her. In this day and time, people are prone to overestimate their importance if they get a measily promotion on their job, let alone worldwide exposure. Also, on a day to day basis, it is difficult to find and maintain true friendship. There are only a select few who even know who I really am, therefore it is ridiculous to think that I would be trying to gain some "admiration" from anyone about who I know. Also, in regard to those who know paramedics, teachers, doctors...they are true hero's, and I would never take that away from them. However, once reading the title of the thread, or the thread itself, it is obvious what I am talking about. Most times when I post threads and receive negativity backlash, I do not respond. Today, I felt the need to because what I want to know is do some people get a perverse satisfaction in being cruel to others? I thought that it was "general discussion", a forum to talk about anything and perhaps receive usefull insight. Maybe I was wrong... When I come across a thread that I do not agree with, I do not make smart comments, because everyone is entitled to their own opinions. It does not mean that my paticular opinion is correct or incorrect, nor does it mean their's is either. People that live in glass houses should not throw stones... and you should never bring a knife to gun fight. From now on, I will take a voyeurs approach... I will just watch instead of participating. I am not better than anyone, just better than certain situations. I am the one and only and the only one. FIN!

GoldNigga

I think that famous people who drop the friends and family who supported them when they were poor usually end up having problems with gold diggers. The hangers on, gold diggers, leaches, and fair weather friends are there as long as the fame and fortune is there. But if the famous person loses his fame and fortune, those fair weather friends and hangers on will be gone quicker than you can say "celebrity ligger."

When somebody who had nothing becomes rich and famous, it opens up a whole new world to them. Suddenly, the doors that were closed to them when they were poor are now open. People who wouldn't have given them the time of day when they had nothing are suddenly acting like their best buddy.

Your friend is no doubt enjoying the fame and money. But there's an old saying that goes something like: Be careful of the way you treat people on the way up because you'll meet many of those same people on your way down.
