Don't worry I'll b fine.Recently my grandma found out that she has breast cancer.And my sister's godmother had leukemia in the worst level but she got over it even though the doctors said that she'll die she's happy and has all of her hair.I'll pray 4 him and b sure he'll b fine if he's strong and believe in God.

Sorry, he went for the consult and another check up the other day. Doc says the kidney will have to be removed. There are some cysts on the other kidney, but they are benign, so they only need to be removed. He'll be in the hospital for three days, out of work for two months. No chemo or radiation though!

With Elizabeth Edwards in the news for metastatic cancer, it's been in the news a lot. Doctors are now saying that cancer is increasingly becoming a managable, chronic disease much like diabetes and heart disease.

Two quick inspirational stories: I have a 41 year old friend who has spinal bifida. She's a single mother of two kids and works two jobs. About 15 years ago, she got colon cancer. Had surgery and chemo. Five years later, it returned and attacked many of her organs. She had more chemo and surgery to remove several organs. I can't remember all of them, but I know it was more of her colon, some parts of her intestines, her spleen and possible one of her kidneys. She's now fine. Engaged to the father of her one year old baby, just bought a house and still working all the time!

Me: Stage IIb breast cancer in 2003. Mastectomy, chemo and radiation. 2004 mets to spine. More chemo. 2006 new soft tissue mass on spinal cord. Raditation and more chemo (indefinitely). Now I'm labeled as "no evidence of disease!" But I will be on some sort of chemo forever. I continue to do everything in my house--cook, clean, deal with kids, yard work, take care of asshole dogs, shop, hang out with friends and family, basically everything. I am fine.

Sorry for the long post, but in conclusion...cancer sucks BIG TIME!!! It's a bunch of fucking shit and I fucking hate it!!!!! But people can survive, be cured or live with it. And I just said a prayer for your godfather.
