Acoustic piano, or Fender rhodes.
The first makes the most beautful sounds an instrument can make. the other is funky. or with the right settings, can make you horny.

A tough one, but I'll go with a pipe organ. It's amazing that one instrument could produce the ticklishness of the higher register and the earthmoving force of the very, very low register. Put those together in the perfect acoustic environment -- like some huge, vaulted sanctuary -- and that spiral of sound is like a religious experience unto itself.

I'd be betraying myself if I didn't say the violin...(because I play it and I know it)

but I also like the harpsichord. (because of the way it sounds, historical and angelic)

and the prepared piano, because I like the idea of putting things in an instrument and "disabling" it to become something else, something you can't quite identify. Like different voices coming out of it, a haunted quality.

Mashed-potato-fuzztone?

Um, no, really, the cello. I just think it's the most beautiful sound.

I'm very fond of the piano as well.

First answer'd have to be my guitar. I remember thinking how impossible it was to play when I first started. Years later, I can pick it up and go wherever I wanna go. My favourite as far as other people playing would have to be the trumpet. All you have to do is listen to Miles playing Round Midnight or Bye Bye Blackbird and you'll understand why... cool

Yeah, harpsichord is nice cloud9 Along with the piano, any type of organ, and flute. I'd love to play one of those massive pipe organs.

I wandered into a large church when I was in New York several years ago and within a few minutes, someone started playing something from phantom of the opera. omfg It was awe-inspiring, especially considering it was near empty and got to swirl and echo around for what felt like days.

Oh yeah, why.
Listen to a Hammond B-3 played by someone like Jimmy Smith or Joey DeFrancesco and the reasons will be obvious.

Amazing, isn't it? I visited L'Oratoire Saint-Joseph in Montreal about 1 1/2 years ago and caught an unexpected organ solo. I think it was something from Bach. I sat smack in the middle of the sanctuary, closed my eyes and just got lost in all that sound swirling around me. Words can't describe the feeling. That was one of only two times my wife has ever seen me cry.
