every couple of days we are informed by luv of some horrendous happening like this.
its common, we're tired of it. put it somewhere else, NOT in general discussion.

nope, it should be read and known by everyone, no censoring, no hiding, no denial. That is destructive in the long run. In all situations. Everywhere.

General discussion covers most things about everyday life, whether it's trivial or serious. I would rather see the title and skip over it than click on something that says maybe "In the news today..." and read something I didn't want to look at. It's real life people. The people who seem sensitive to this must not watch the news either

"What good can hell do, since those children have already been tortured? And what becomes of harmony, if there is hell? I want to forgive. I want to embrace. I don't want more suffering. And if the sufferings of children go to swell the sum of sufferings which was necessary to pay for truth, then I protest that the truth is not worth such a price. I don't want the mother to embrace the oppressor who threw her son to the dogs! She dare not forgive him! Let her forgive him for herself, if she will, let her forgive the torturer for the immeasurable suffering of her mother's heart. But the sufferings of her tortured child she has no right to forgive; she dare not forgive the torturer, even if the child were to forgive him! And if that is so, if they dare not forgive, what becomes of harmony? Is there in the whole world a being who would have the right to forgive and could forgive? I don't want harmony. From love for humanity I don't want it. I would rather be left with the unavenged suffering. I would rather remain with my unavenged suffering and unsatisfied indignation, even if I were wrong. Besides, too high a price is asked for harmony; it's beyond our means to pay so much to enter on it. And so I hasten to give back my entrance ticket, and if I am an honest man I am bound to give it back as soon as possible. And that I am doing. It's not God that I don't accept, Alyosha, only I most respectfully return him the ticket.""

And just my 2 cents on these stories - they're news like any other article people choose to post. Yes, they're sad but there's sad shit in the world. I have no problem w/ these articles, especially this one b/c I hadn't heard about it in the news. Nobody's being forced to click the thread...

Exactly. I have no problem with them either. shrug Of course, I have a problem with the people in the stories themselves, but not the fact that they are posted here. It's just news.

I think people came off a little hard on LUV, this is just her way of dealing with stuff, and sharing it with others who do the same. I don't read a lot of them, but it doesn't bother me that she's posting them.

I always read news like this anyway. For some reason it really intrigues me, so I actually like it if the stories are posted here because sometimes I'll miss them the first time around on the news.

It's not a "major problem". I just don't feel like seeing here (or at least in a detailed thread title like this one is) and I also think that people are just posting it for it's shock value, like a form of entertainment. They don't post about every single bad thing they see or read in the news...just the most extreme.

i am shocked, appalled and amazed that folks are suggesting that threads like this need to be in another forum...

i get more annoyed and frustrated by all the silly threads that are here...and moreso the sexual threads...but hey, i *choose* to not frequent this forum as much as others because of it...its my choice...

and don't even start me on prince forum threads...but hey, *i choose* to enjoy what i want...

this thread title interested me...i read it...got saddened by what happened...and i'll click out and never visit this thread again...i do that a lot here on the org...because in the end i can only control my own reactions/actions/emotions....

and on that note...im out.

silly threads that are more extensions of inside jokes or private relationships, yes...they are non-inclusive and only a certain folks "get it". so yes, i get frustrated by them cause i haven't a clue what the point of the thread is...

*but*

and the *but* is key here...but i simply click out of the thread and move on...i don't advocate that those threads should be banned...or that an entirely seperate forum should be created for them...

Nope. Bothers me too. Stories like that shouldn't be on the news, either.
All they do is shock people, or give ideas to psychopaths.

i'm not a parent (i don't even really like kids that much lol), but they still bother me to some extent.

sos, i don't think they should be banned, i just think a little discretion or a NSFW (for lack of a better term shrug) could be used in naming the threads. i usually do ignore these threads, but they keep coming up. i don't know, just my twocents

I'm not a parent, and I think it's mindbendingly terrible.

I probably am a bit jaded as far as being shocked, though. People being bastards doesn't really shock me anymore.

No, but the "hear no evil, see no evil" approach isn't a healthy either, imo. These things do happen and so many people are in denial about the type of people close to them or in their family. I'm sure the mother in this story never thought he would harm his own child, regardless of what he did to her in the past. This should be a lesson to everyone about keeping discernment. Wanting to only hear about pleasant things doesn't take the evil away. Things like this, truly, can happen to anyone of us

My imagination is very vivid, I am certainly not in any kind of denial that these things happen, but seriously I don't think that me knowing about it is going to stop it happening. All it is going to do is make me lie awake at night crying about the stupid fucking world, and when you are hanging in there by a thread as it is, these things are what tip you over.
