What does that term mean, "woman of color"? Does a white person not have any "color"? Doesn't saying that black and Hispanic people have color thereby suggest that whites are without color? Isn't pigmentation found in all humans? Don't the skin colors of white people vary as much as they do in black people? Sorry, this term just offends me and I point this out whenever it pops up.

I find it interesting that you're offended by the term women of color or people of color...and it is talking about non-whites.
Why does that offend you? I'm just curious.

I think some of you guys in here think that i'm a white guy...i'm a black man, I am trying to stress this: By me being a black man that loves the features of a black woman am i racist if i explain my attractions for black women to a white woman? Do you think that it may sound racist if I told a white woman who is interested in me that I date black women exclusively because I love the attributes of the black woman? _______________________________________________________________________________________ You can hate me for who I am, cuz I won't be something that i'm not.

Nah, that's not racist. If you genuinely just prefer black women, who could blame you? That's your taste, and of course there are some very beautiful black women in the world.
Everyone has their preferences, whatever their origin. No big deal, everyone has their "type" right? Although I can appreciate many kinds of women, most of my girlfriends have been Japanese and my wife is Japanese so I guess my preferred "type" is Japanese women. That said, back before I was married I doubt that I would have dated a non-Japanese woman if I felt that I was going to be constantly looking over my shoulder for an "upgrade" to a woman who was "more my type". That's no good for anyone ... so if you prefer black women, stick with black women (rather than dating a white woman and then hurting her feelings...).

AbucahX- let me pose you a question.
What would you think about a white woman who was full-figured and had fat, juicy lips? Would be attracted to her, assuming you liked her personality etc? Would SHE be your style, or would it have to be a black woman with those attributes? -------------------------------------------------

Do white women have a peanut butter skin complexion or darker? I don't think they do, lol. I am not saying that i'm not attracted to white women. What i'm saying is that most white women don't have the same attributes that i am attracted to like most black women have. _______________________________________________________________________________________ You can hate me for who I am, cuz I won't be something that i'm not.

That's not racist, but lawd, did you HAVE to tell her you weren't attracted to her physically?? She must have been crushed! Here, let me pick up that self esteem for ya cuz I just knocked it DOWN!!! Sheesh! You should have just said it wasn't going to work or something! Poor girl...

AbucahX, You are not a racist!! Everyone has there preferences, and people should respect that. It's also good that you were honest with her, but she was obviously just very angry with you and wanted to say something to hurt you.
Also, it doesn't matter what color you are, or what color the person is, as long as you are happy! I'm back!!!!!!!

AbucahX, you're a great man. Most men would stop at the phyiscial characteristics when approaching a woman if she doesn't satisfy their visual needs, but you wanted to look beyond that, and that is remarkable. I don't think you should stop dating someone just because you are not physically attracted to them because you are right, some people's inner beauty are far more exceeding than their outer beauty, and sometimes that beauty evokes love and commitiment. Searching for more than physical beauty is noble. Thanx for seeing women for more that just a object that derives pleasure.

teller said: Sexual attraction is an important part of sexual relationship, obviously. Bending your inner tastes to please others will only make you miserable. That said...the thin blonde is sooo common in the media that I could never date a thin blonde just because I'm bored with them.
Personally I think Jeanine Garafolo is one of the hottest chicks in movies! And she's supposed to be considered "dumpy" or some such by most...well, each to their own. It's refreshing to hear you say that...I've dated guys who were all wrapped up in that "blonde stick with two plastic bumps" fantasy and that's definitely not me -- and not most women, for that matter. So, here's to you!

Oh lawd, now the term "people of color" is reverse racism...LOL
Get a grip...really...it is a term to lump "minority groups" based on color into one group...people of color. Stop trying to look for some hiden racist remark or suggestion in that term. There is enough already out there than to create some damn confusion about "people of color". Is the term "white" or "black" racist? I"m not black, I'm sorta a mocha buttery pecan brown color...lol The Org continues to drive me

seen a living soul that was any shade of "white". It's simply a term to designate caucasion...then U have non-whites..or people of color. As Rhondab said, it's just a term which designates red, yellow, brown, black.as a collective group..not different shades of the same color. The only negative connotations in either term would be those in the mind of the user of the term or the hearer of the term. U act as though there are no other synonymous terms in the English language. Most terms have alternative renderings. Example: pamphlet/booklet/brochure...just words... So...how's everybody doing?

Not all Black women have 'thick lips' as you've stated somewhere, so the fact that you're stating it like that makes it seem like you are stereotyping, and that can lead to racist thinking and comments. So I think you answered your own question in your own paragraph up there somewhere...
Maybe you should just say, 'I like 'thick' women', that's it, and free your mind... [This message was edited Tue Sep 17 19:59:46 PDT 2002 by Starmist7]
