This reminds me of an incident at Purdue. There was always conflict between students because of the tv. Usually, the conflict was between black girls and white girls over what to watch at noon.

I live in Antigua, the heart of the Caribbean.
Back in 1992 I joined the Navy and while in A-School, the same shit would happen. The music was much better then so it wasn't as bad, but the same annoying shit happened.

Now in Antigua, I hung out on weekends in the clubs until 4 a.m or later when we got kicked out and I took this attitude with me to A-School in Illinois.

Every weekend the blacks(I am one of them) would rent movies(videos back in those days) and watch BET for the entire weekend.

Needless to say, that wasn't me so I hung out with the only people who shared my passion for clubbing and getting fucked up on our God given weekends(white people).

After a few weeks, I was summoned to a meeting by my black peers who expressed concerns about my affiliation with the white race and rumors of some sexual encounters. The shit just got ridiculous.

My thing was, I lived in the Caribbean where black people are the majority so I never really experienced racism. To me people were people, there are some you can trust and there are the others, regardless of race.

I don't know what the moral of my story is though, but please find people and/or something else to occupy your down time, and rid yourself of the problems tackling this dilema will bring. Black Americans seem to be clan-ish at times and stations like BET seems to bring the truly ignorant portion of our race together.

Explore other options in life and leave them to their monotony.

This thread's too funny. We took over the TV at my job a few years ago. On our breaks an at lunch, We'd watch a little BET and SportCenter, But our main shows were Divorce Court and The Judge Mathis Show. We'd laugh so hard at them fools on those shows, You could hear us way down the hallway. Finally they took away our breakroom and put in new offices in their place. We were .
