One thing is certain : Iraq has no relevant nuclear capabilities.

They may have some of the parts and equipment necessary, for the research, but it's highly unlikely that they have the plutonium. And if they do, they have very little of it. And very little means to deliver the bomb.

It's the same thing every time. During the Gulf War, the spectre of existing Iraqi nukes was raised by Bush Sr. In his speech to the UN, Junior himself said that the Iraqis might have succeeded a couple of years after the end of the war IF the war had not destroyed their installations.

Now they are at it again. Congress heard from a former Iraqi engineer who assured them Saddam could have a bomb by Xmas. Never mind that this woman left Iraq in 1994 -- everyone listened very seriously.

So it's no big surprise that a lot of people doubt whatever information comes from the US. Not only do we have reasons to believe they routinely engage in misinformation about their enemies, but the Bush administration made it clear right after 9/11 that it might lie to the public "for security reasons"

It's far more likely that Saddam possesses bioterror material (which it obtained from the Americans many years ago, when Saddam was a convenient ally against Iran). But again, their means of delivering such weapons are very limited. They have few missiles or aircrafts if any, and even if they do, they are most likely quite rusty and prone to malfunctioning. To the point where some observers have suggested that the best way the biological agents could be delivered is through human beings willing to travel to enemy countries carrying the agent, quite possibly inside themselves But what do you think the chances are of Isreal and the US admitting Iraqis fresh from Bagdad into their respective territory without a hell of a search?

So much BS...

You are right Aerogram, when you say
"But what do you think the
chances are of Isreal and the US admitting Iraqis
fresh from Bagdad..." NOW, anyhow! The point is
how many are already in these "respective territories"
and who are their conections?

They say Saddan is evil, I knew a man who resembled
his physical appearance, a kind, sweet man full of
love. So, for me I see pictures of Saddam, and I
think - this is evil? It's amazing how many doubles
there are in this world, or look-a-likes!

I still will continue to pray for peaceful inspections,
and sooner, more than later! Why can't there be a
remedy for this? What good will come of it to strike?
Only more war. Why can't each country show their
strengths in different ways - instead - of horrific
moves that stem from hatred?

I don't think there's much of a chance that someone already inside Israel or the US could deliver Iraqi-made biological agents. Someone would have to deliver it to them, so the difficulty is the same. How do you bring enough Iraqi antrax? So far, the danger in the US is domestic. It's definitely easier for a American to obtain and spread them if they are crazy enough...

Scary world we live in. I hope people don't forget who exactly made Saddam able to have those bio agents. The US had signed a agreement to discontinue the production of these agents in the late sixties, but kept doing it anyway. So much for shiding Saddam for ignoring agreements with the international community.
