Smoking Wrinkles More Than Just your face

.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/H...index.html

"We examined non-facial skin that was protected from the sun, and found that the total number of packs of cigarettes smoked per day and the total years a person has smoked were linked with the amount of skin damage a person experienced," Dr. Yolanda Helfrich of the University of Michigan, who led the study, said in a statement.

"In participants older than 65 years, smokers had significantly more fine wrinkling than nonsmokers. Similar findings were seen in participants aged 45 to 65 years," Helfrich's team added in their report.

Nothing will be successful without a trong will power. Most of those things, IMO, don't do much but help quitting feel less stressful. But of you don't have enough will power, once the patch, or pill or whatever it is, is gone - cigarettes will soon come back.

My mother quit after 45 years of non-stop smoking. What made her quit is her first grand daughter being born.

I don't have strong will power. I never have, never will. So are you saying I shouldn't bother trying?

Me too. My mom is taking some kind of pill and she hasn't smoked for 2 weeks. She said it's still a struggle but not as bad as it was when she quit cold turkey. I guess the pills mellow her out.

It's hard, I really enjoy smoking when I'm out having a beer or something. sigh

Unfortunatly, yes. That's what I'm saying. With not enough will power, the chances are close to zero.

Of course, it's just my opinion.

Don't let people discourage you @ the sake of your health - hopefully you'll find the willpower to quit. It may not be today, but eventually hug

lol

When my mother smoked, every time someone spoke to her about quitting, she'd say "Hey, this is my pleasure in life. I enjoy smoking."
She quit after my niece was born. Because she didn't want to smoke around her,
She used a patch, to make it feel easier, but it was her strong will power and dedication that made it successful. She's now smoke free for more than 2 years. woot!

My Dad tried quitting several times. Still smoking today sigh

Nope, it's all willpower. lol
I simply don't have it.
I've never really had to learn discipline, I'm ashamed to say. I'm used to things being easy for me and when they're not I don't bother. I did ok for a while there, but then it was back to old bad habits and now I'm hooked again.
I will try to quit again. I just want something to cushion the blow a bit. And I've just heard of so many success stories with the new medication. I'm actually normally so anti-drug I don't even take aspirin for headaches. So my even considering this is quite a big step for me.

We'll see.

There's no question in my mind.

Smoking goes right into your blood through the lungs, and it has to affect circulation all over the body, beginning with the tiny capillaries and finally the heart.

It's not making us (actually I quit, so not me anymore woot!) wrinkly from just the outside but the inside.
