If the Orgers Started a Cookbook what would your recipe be?

I don't do a whole lot of cooking, but I would love to see what kind of recipes would people bring and will there be a variety?

My only contribution would be to thank everyone for their help unless you would like to learn how to make a mess.

Help me out here

Okay... here we go... Basic Stir Fry - kinda:

3-4 chicken breasts cut into strips
1/4 cup water

add above to skillet or wok, cover and let cook on medium heat for 5 minutes. Then add:

1 each: green, red and yellow peppers - sliced
2 stalks of broccoli - chopped
1/2 onion - sliced
1 can water chestnuts

Cover and cook on medium heat for an additional three minutes. Uncover and stir frequently until chicken is done and the veggies are tender. Add 1/4 cup soy sauce. Mix it up. smile

Serve over 1/2 cup cooked rice.

I love to cook... and this one is very easy! smile

I actually took this from another message board:

Cheesy Parmesan Chicken

Get some grated parmesan (not shredded) and make a paste with either white wine, sherry, or chicken broth. Add some garlic salt and fresh ground pepper...slab it all over some skinless boneless chicken breasts and put in a baking dish in the over at 375 degrees for about 35-45 minutes--until the cheese is golden brown. It's YUMMY! And easy too! The parm keeps the moisture in.

I use the white wine paste, and let it marinade for about a half hour to an hour to get the wine taste in the chicken.

ZUCCHINI TOSS...

You can practically toss this right from your
garden...into...your pan...it's that easy...

Heat a small amount of olive oil in a pan.

Cut zucchini, onions, fresh spinach,
other vegetables of your
liking, and stir fry,

(Don't forget to add spices, hot pepper, garlic,
cilantro...whatever you like)

Add some tomatoes cut up. Heat for a while

Add Parmesan cheese. Top with slivered almonds.

(This is also good with pasta, rice or gnocchi.)

With some good bread, this is nutritious, and delicious.

smile

oh! I love this thread! I love to cook.
hmm...I can't pick just one recipe!
either my homemade mac and cheese or my chicken broc alfredo.
I'm good at just winging it...but here's a recipe
chicken broccoli and penne alfredo
1lb boneless chicken breast (cut up into 1" cubes)
1 head of broccoli chopped into bitesize pieces
garlic
freshly grated parmesan cheese
olive oil
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup heavy cream (can use milk or half and half)
basil (up to you how much)
salt and pepper
penne pasta aldente (8 to 10 oz..about a half to 3/4 of a box)
2 tablespoons butter.

To make the sauce

melt the butter in a small sauce pan over medium/low heat
add the flour to make a paste
slowly add the cream
salt and pepper to taste.
set aside.

heat olive oil over med/high heat, in a large fry pan
add the garlic and sauté for a few seconds...(don't burn it)
add the cut up chicken and basil, and sauté till nice and golden, but not fully cooked.
add the cut up broccoli, sauté for a few mins, till it starts to get really green.
toss in the pasta
pour the sauce on over the top
toss to coat...simmer a few seconds just to finish up the chicken (shouldn't take too long, if the chicken over cooks it really ruins this recipe..dry chicken...yuk)
sprinkle with more salt and pepper and basil to taste.
sprinkle with as much parmesan as you like...
serve with a crusty bread and a crispy green salad and
tada!! mmm on of my favs.
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

Nep2nes

Org Cake (this should be eaten in moderation)

1 cup purple dye
3 cups bullshit
1/2 tsp. silicon
4 oz. extra extra extra extra virgin olive oil
6 lbs. oregano

Using a large bowl, add the bullshit. Then, slowly, mix the purple dye in2 the bullshit. Beat. U should then have purple bullshit that is the consistency of cottage cheese.

Now it's time for the olive oil. This olive oil must be chaste, or the Org Cake will come out much too dry..which is often the case. Add the silicon and beat for approximately 15 minutes.

If u dont believe in time, just beat until Mars is aligned with Pluto.

Now add the finishing touch- oregano. As u may well know, oregano quickly adds flavor 2 any dish ur making.

Chill. Then enjoy!

My recipe would be "How to Take Care of That Ass".

Ok all U need is...

1 pair of clean hands
1 bottle of hand cream
2 peachy buttocks of assyness

Method - Sqirt some hand cream on2 yo hands and rub 2gether 2 make yo handz softer and moistourised. If U aint got no cream use talcon/baby powder instead. Now imagine your making bread and SQUEEZE AND FIRM UP THAT ASS!!!
Keeping in mind that if U have 2 rub in a particular direction that U only rub upwards and when twisting an ass with more meat on that there should be, get the person 2 whom the ass belongs 2 to tense up their ass muscles.

Strawberries Flambe. Take one container of Strawberries , add to a Fondue Pot add Grand Marnier and light it. Also, Cheese Fondue . Melted Guyure cheese , cut pieces of toasted bread and dip pieces of bread on forks into pot of melted cheese. Serve both Strawberries and Cheese Fondue with Champagne and get ready for a wonderful Evening by Candlelight.

Black bean pizza:

1) Prepare your dough however you choose... I usually just buy a Boboli premade pizza crust.

2) Put pizza sauce on the dough.

3) Put a layer of black beans on top of the sauce. For a regular-sized pizza, one can will do.

4) Sprinkle a very light layer of mozzarella cheese over the beans.

5) Add these toppings: onions, banana peppers, pineapple, and cheddar cheese.

6) Add a "normal" layer of mozzarella over the toppings.

7) Bake and enjoy.

Tom

Here's an alternate method for an alfredo sauce:

In a large frying pan, add about a cup or so of heavy cream and a tablespoon of real butter.

As soon as it starts to bubble, throw in a handfull of shredded parmesean and cook a little longer till it all melts, constantly stirring with a spatula.

From here you can make all sorts of alfredo dishes. Throw in some steamed brocolli. Or you can grill some chicken with cajun seasoning, cut it into strips, throw it on top and garnish with green onions and tomatoes. (I stole this recipie from TGI Fridays btw, I used to work there lol).

Also, whats kind of good for breakfast is, take a few slices of salami, cut it into strips and cook them a bit in frying pan, add some srambled eggs and mix it all together. Make a sandwich out of it on some good toasted italian or french bread.

I don't know how common "wedding soup" is around the country or if its just a local thing, but its pretty good too. Its basically chicken broth, pastini, mini meatballs, chicken, and escarole. You can make a quick wedding soup by purchasing Progresso Chickarina soup and Progresso Escarole soup and mixing them together. Top with parmesean.

Man, this stuff is good. I was hesitant to try it at first...But it's good! I'm not sure of the precise recipe Alex's mother uses but, here's the one I found online...

KULEBIAKA

Serves 8-10.

Pastry:

4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 pound chilled unsalted butter cut up
6 tablespoons chilled vegetable shortening
1 tsp salt
10-12 tablespoons ice water

In a large bowl, combine flour, butter, shortening and salt. Blend until it flakes like a course meal. Pour 10 tablespoons of water over the mixture and toss together and make into a ball. Add 2 more tablespoons of water if dough is still crumbly. Divide dough in half, dust with flour and wrap in wax paper. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm.

Cabbage filling:

3 lb head of white cabbage. Quarter, core, and course shredded.
4 tablespoons of butter
2 large onions, coarsely chopped
4 hard cooked eggs, finely chopped
1/4 cup finely cut fresh dill leaves
2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Freshly ground black pepper

Over high heat, bring 4 quarts of lightly salted water to a boil in an 8-10 qt pot and drop in the cabbage. Reduce heat to moderate and cook uncovered for 5 minutes. Drain cabbage and set it aside. Melt butter over high heat in a deep skillet or 3-4 qt casserole. Add the chopped onions, reduce heat to moderate and cook 5-8 minutes or until onions are soft and lightly colored. Add cabbage and cover. Simmer over low heat 30-40 minutes, or until cabbage is tender, then uncover the pan, raise the heat to high and boil briskly until almost all of the liquid in the pan is evaporated. Drain cabbage in collander and combine with chopped eggs, dill and parsley. Stir in the salt, sugar, and pepper to taste.

2 tablespoons butter softened
1 egg yolk, mixed with 1 tablespoon cream
1 tablespoon butter melted
1 cup melted butter, hot but not brown or sour cream.

To assemble: Preheat oven to 400. Place one ball of dough on a floured surface and roll into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick, 7 inches wide and 16 inches long. Place on a coated cookie sheet and put filling along the length of the pastry leaving a 1 inch border of dough exposed. Brush the exposed dough with the eggyolk/cream mixture. Roll other half to match the first and over the pastry mixture, sealing the edges. Use fingers, fork or a pastry crimper to pinch shut. Cut a 1 inch circle in the center of the dough. Coat the entire surface of pastry with remaining egg mixture. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Pour 1 tablespoon of melted butter into the opening and bake for 1 hour, or until golden brown. Serve with a pitcher of melted butter or sour cream.

I don't know if any of y'all have ever had fresh, homemade Ginger Beer, and not just that weak-ass stuff in bottles, but here are 2 recipes for a non-alcoholic, most refreshing and kick-in-the-ass beverage from the Caribbean!!!

Try it, especially if you like ginger!!!

recipe #1---
1. Wash, remove skin and grate one pound of green ginger.
2. Place in a bottle with about 4 pints of cold water and one
lime--juice and skin.
3. Leave in sun for one whole day. Next day, in the evening,
drain and sweeten.
4. Pour in clean bottles and place in fridge.
5. Soda water may be added if too strong.

recipe #2---
one pound of fresh ginger
2 cups granulated sugar (2 pounds)
1/4 pound potatoes
4 to 6 grains of clove
one piece of cinnamon
8 cups boiling water

method:
1. Clean and crush ginger.
2. Peel and chop potatoes in medium pieces.
3. Put ginger, potatoes, clove, cinnamon and sugar in a large
bottle or jar.
4. Pour boiling water over, stir and cover: allow to brew for
2 to 4 days.
5. Strain and bottle.
Serve with ice and Angostura bitters. Ginger can be diluted with water if the flavor is too strong.
