i'm a life long DC fan but i bought the Civil War mini series and i loved it. i think i liked it more than Identity Crisis which was way too complex.

I never really liked him. these days I often find petty criminals more sympathetic.

He was useless in the Avengers.
Often came across as a right wing thug.

That happened 2 almost all the heroes. Batman used 2 b a favourite.
I recently read a book without pictures, where he fights against a child-porn ring, of course he does a commendable job. But he also has these private busy-body thoughts, which put him in a very bad light.

Supercops!

Right wing thug? I don't know what Captain America comics you've been reading, but he's NEVER been portrayed that way in the mainstream Marvel Universe. In fact, the Civil War mini (which I personally detested) showed Captain America leading a resistance movement of heroes who refuse to reveal their identities to the government. If anything, he was depicted as being oppossed to right-wing pressure tactics.

Oh, and Cap was FAR from useless in The Avengers. He was a brilliant tactician, excellent leader and a near-unbeatable hand-to-hand fighter. Hell, he cleaned Iron Man's clock in the last issue of CW. Useless? disbelief

Oh, and just for the record, no one in comics ever stays dead. In fact, it seems pretty obvious that Nick Fury is behind this, "killing" Cap in order to get him out of federal custody. We might have a year, tops, with someone else in the costume (and my bet is that Cap will be taking up the "Ronin" identity soon).

Acutally, the Red Skull was behind it. His henchman Crossbones and a mind-controlled Sharon Carter both shot Capt.

Exactly. That's actually the thing about Marvel that always bugged me. They ALWAYS bring back villians who should stay dead. I lost interest in Cap in the late 80s when they brought back the Red Skull. It was just so silly. Now they brought back Norman Osborne as the Green Goblin and said that he fathered twins with Gwen Stacy. Good lord.

I know he wasn't as cool as the rest of the League but damn, he did his part...and what the hell, they couldn't come up with anything better than a sniper taking him out. They could have a least had him going out fighting...a sniper, it's just sad.

Exactly. Comic-book characters never stay dead. Look at Supes. Believe me, Cap will be back.

In the meantime, I think the Punisher will wear the red, white & blue. At the end of Civil Wars, he's holding Cap's discarded costume.

BTW, you all should check out the latest issue of 'Planet Hulk'. It's slowly leading up to 'World War Hulk' in a few months.

Ronin is a mystery character in New Avengers. The first Ronin was revealed to be Echo from the pages of Daredevil. Now there's a new Ronin whose identity has yet to be revealed. biggrin
