Is it wrong of me not to but my nephew a birthday present?

I never buy my nieces or nephews a birthday present. They do get everything they want through out the year and i do get them nice prsssies at Xmas.
I just dont want them to think they are always going to expect something.

does that make me cheap bastard?

ya that's the real reason honestly. but you know kids today.....they all get programmed to think that just cuz mom is going to the shop they deserve to also go to the toy store or the video game store.

I remember my childhood friend was the type 2 get on the floor and cry if his mother didn't buy him what he wanted.
And because I knew my mother didn't have money, I knew that I wasn't getting anything and when I did I was all excited
I guess that made me appreciate what I have... specially the little things.

I just get them a gift card or give them money. Then you know they will use it and buy what they like.

I guess if you dont wanna be known as the cheap sleazy uncle. smile

I had a cheap sleazy uncle. And he would only come to birthday parties to take inventory of what his mom and dad (our grandma and grandpa ) gave us for birthdays. Just so he would make sure on his he got the same dollar value.
But, pretty much all the adults did this in our family. Bitched about who got what and if it was fair. Drove my grandmother and grandfather to thier grave with that shit. neutral

I guess it's ultimately your choice and method the way in which you bestow your love. But come on, bruv, it's their B'Day cool There's lots of other ways you can teach them appreciation.

man..if I had neices or nephews, they would be spoiled rotten beyond belief.

Maybe not so much presents, but I'd make sure I spent as much time possible.

every christmas and birthday or special occasion you might consider putting that present money in an education account for them to have when they are 18 or whatever.

that way they don't have some mindless stuff to add to the pile
but they will be grateful for your help when they are grown. smile

kids like money... you let them know that it's there for them and that it's growing and they will be cool... especially after you take them for ice cream smile
