I bought my iPod less than a year and a half ago and now they want me to pay for almost 90% it's price to replace it's fucked up battery.

P.S. I took excellent care of it but turns out that's not enough as everybody needs to go through that replacement thing every now and again so getting a simpler, more reliable device sounds like a MUCH better deal for me.

i'm thinking iRiver, any thoughts on it?

I'm totally in love with my Creative Zen V+...4gb flash player....doesn't use removable batteries, but I haven't read anywhere that the battery goes bad on the Zen.....

ya but you can't use any of those other mp3 players with an Apple Mac.
Windoze are just useless machines really.

creative's zen micros have removable, replaceable batteries. not AAs or anything, but i've had mine for over 2 years without a problem.

also, it's a pretty tough little player. i've dropped it on hard linoleum flooring several times & it hasn't broken.

Im sure its like a car being modified. When you take it apart and put it back together the parts never fit back together perfectly.

iPods are not special (or especially bad) in this regard. It's just there are a TON of them that have been sold, so you're going to hear those unlucky souls bitch. And it does suck.

I do think that Apple should provide a better iPod warranty. Unfortunately, many people abuse their players and then try to scam a replacement, making it hard for Apple to allow for a long warranty without charging extra (which is what they currently do).


ANYway, a player with replaceable batteries makes sense, especially if you're somebody who doesn't tend to go for the Newest Greatest Thing, but will instead use it forever. Then you're going to run into battery problems.

i've seen you can get zen/nomad/muvo/whatevs replacement batteries for cheep on eBay.

i've had my zen for a couple of years now and there's no threat of me needing a new battery yet.

My mind is now set on Creative's Zen Nano

Flash Memory

Drag & Drop feature

Now that's what i call efficient

Okay, this shit ain't funny now - my battery just charged for several hours, displayed the "full battery" symbol but didn't even make it through one song when I unplugged it How the fuck am I gonna workout w/ this shit? I don't wanna deal w/ this!
