shopping malls or online shopping?

shopping malls
the +'s

-the atmosphere
-the sales
-no shipping charges
-can write a check (if you like)
-try on samples
-mingle with others
-can grab something to eat somewhere near

the -'s

-those snotty salespeople who keep asking you "can i help you with something" every 5 seconds
-kids falling out in the floor giving their parents hell
-the shoe department may not have your shoe size
-gas money
-somebody may want to tag along with you and make you wish you hadn't told them you were going shopping at all

online shopping
the +'s

-it's rare that they don't have your size in stock
-have the stuff that isn't sold in the stores, or hasn't hit stores yet
-don't have to worry about somebody rudely stepping in front of the rack you are looking at.
-have access to any store/company
-don't have to use gas money
-nobody knows if you are shopping online or not

the -'s

-those damn shipping charges
-have a risk of the site charging your card twice or theft identity
-screen might freeze before your order processes

pick one.

my choice: shopping malls

no malls. malls are nasty.

i'll go to a department store, like macy's or target. i can deal with those better than i can a mall, plus it seems like you can find better deals.

other than that, if it's something kind of pricey that i don't need RIGHT NOW, i will check froogle.com for cheep prices and low shipping and go that route.

i don't know where i got the gene from because lord knows my mom wasn't a bargain fiend like i am, but whether it's online or in a store, i am determined to make a dollar holler! nod

With online shopping you can look at porn while you shop. biggrin

If you do that at the mall you get funny looks....

I buy just about everything online (shoes, clothes, purses, hair products, toiletries, books, furnitures, electronics, etc) ...and send relatives to the grocery store.

Then I don't have to worry about walking around trying to find something I can use a search engine for, bad attitudes, crowds of assholes, prejudice, etc.

People are rude. Websites are friendly. (plus sometimes there's no tax and free shipping).

2 times! lol lol

I tend to shop online but you forgot one serious drawback to online shopping - the whole arrival process. Either you miss the UPS/FedEx/USPS man & have to go pick it up or they wake you up @ the crack of dawn wall

I haven't stepped foot in a mall in more than a year probably, but have ordered much shit via the web - I guess I prefer online smile

I like all 3. I just like shopping sometimes. lol I HATE malls when I have to deal with people, so that's pretty much all of the time, but it's also a necessary evil. With the Mall of America here, there are stores there that simply aren't in the city. The majority of my shopping is at stand alone stores like Target ( yay! ) and cute little stores in Mpls (I like to support the local businesses when I can). I generally only shop online for things I can't find in stores, if I have something specific in mind and haven't found it out and about. I need to try clothes on, I need the tactile experience, I like to browse shelves of books and racks of CDs.

I do both though I am leaning more towards shopping online because I hate the malls . When I go to the mall I already have in mind what I'm there to get, I get it and go...or I go during the off times when there aren't alot of people there.

I still prefer shopping in stores and malls...I like to actually see and try on what I'm buying....through the magic of photography, everything online looks lovely, but sometimes when you get the item, it looks like shit on....

...besides that, where else in the world can you go and check out chicks checking out lingerie without getting labelled as a peeper??? Hmmm...hmmm..?? Thought so....

as far as the aggravating sales people...I used to be one a long time ago....and the reason that they're obnoxious is that most stores and major chains will hire secret shoppers, who's sole purpose in life is to seek out and report nonchalant sales associates who provide bad customer service....the ironic thing about that is most folks I know HATE when clerks ask them if they need help.....but will be first in line to complain if they don't get asked if they need help.....

just my twocents as a former sales floor employee at Macy's and Lord & Taylor, among others....
