Simple Vacations

You know, the kind of vacations you take to just get away rather than living it up to a place that you really want to go but can't afford to go to just yet.....

Well, name some places where you have spent a vacation or a short vacation just to get away from things.

In two months, my bf and I are going to Charlotte, N.C.

and we are staying here:

Our short geteways are always to Atlantic City.

We live close. We get a free stay at usually ballys or claridge. Free drinks at the casino's ofcourse so no bar tab. We usually get a meal or two free. We don't gamble all that much there, we just go to the pool, boardwalk, and the beach.

Its basically FREE.

It's been a WHILE though. neutral

I try to get up to Duluth in the fall every other year or so. It's sooooo beautiful up there and it's only a couple hour drive. We play on the shore of Lake Superior, go antiquing and hits the bars at night.

Lots of places around here to go. Reno, Lake Tahoe, Napa, Mendocino, even San Francisco (I live in Oakland).

But even those simple vacations can add up!

I'm running off to Portland, OR in a couple of weeks. Got two-for-one train tickets and a two-nights-for-the-price-of-one coupon to a cute little hotel, so my girl and I are going to have a little weekend away for about $100 total. Portland is a nice place to just wander, get some good coffee, check out some parks/gardens. smile

I go to my mom's and aunt's cabin in the Norweigan mountains. I can think and breathe up there, plus the drive to get there is scenic and relaxing.

I'm going to Atlantic City for the weekend...probably camping in PA on Spring Break... but this summer I'm going to lollapalooza ... it's been a lil over a year since I've been on a plane. I'm such a dork but I LOVE planes...so I can't wait till August. redface

see this is exactly what i'm talking about. a trip that relaxes you.

sometimes the "big" trips (Vegas, L.A., Hawaii, Cruise to the Islands) can be a bit tiring. you are excited, but at the same time, there is pressure to do all that you can on the trip because there may be a chance that you won't be taking a big trip anytime soon. or that you will visit that place again.

i know when i went to Hawaii, i loved the place itself, but getting there neutral That 14 hour flight was killing me and it was worse going back home than getting there. Switching 2 or 3 planes was really irritating. I remember looking out the window feeling like jumping out of the plane and running home.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Me too! Lately I've spent a long time in the shower just sitting there and letting the water caress my body. With the plain blue shower curtain and the white walls it feels a bit surreal, like an alternate simpler reality stripped of details and problems. It's really cathartic.
