The Remains of the Day (movie)

Admittedly ... this is one of the most BORING threads u may read ... but ... i caught this lil gem the last couple of days on TV...

again - ADMITTEDLY - the plot of this movie sounds so BORING ... a story about a butler ... and ... even the "love story " is interwoven .... so ... lightly ...

but i love this movie !!! the subplot with the Nazis ... Christopher Reeves not playing superman ... hugh grant ... and of course ... the amazing anthony hopkins ....

the first time i saw this movie ... i was in a mood .... and ... not really inclined to sit thru it ... but i remember ... i couldnt stop watchin ... i love these type of movies ! wink cool the kind that come out of nowhere and grab ya ! smile

I love this movie because there are not enough movies with actors restraining their emotions. Because as restrained as Anthony Hopkins was you could still feel the intensity beneath the surface. He shoulda won an Oscar. But I guess that if you're not screaming at the top of your lungs and being overly dramatic, nobody notices.

'hate 2 sound like the cultured european but the novel is better. It was written by Kazuo Ishiguro. His characters r good at restraining their emotions in all his books.
Real lovers of this movie might do well 2 check out his other books
