why don't funny cartoon characters die and come back all the time?

i'd TOTALLY read "garfield: back from the ashes" or "we thought you were dead, charlie brown!"

His former friend, ambitious billionaire Tony Stark — aka Iron Man — championed the law and considered it a natural evolution of superheroes' role in society. He secretly orchestrated a campaign that created circumstances to scare and mislead the public and government officials into supporting the act and all the programs that it entailed.

You mean like Wile E Coyote? How about the time Daffy Duck swallowed gun powder and then a lit match and turned into a ghost just to one up Bugs? That was cool.

It's Cathy with a "C".

Snowball has come back from the dead more than once on "The Simpsons". And characters usually stay dead on that show.

ok, when you corrected me on the spelling of "siouxsie", that was educational.

correcting me on the spelling of "cathy" is kind of creepy.

and i mean that in a complimentary way, if possible. nod

People complaining about how they hate Joe Quesada and they can barely read Marvel should just do themselves a favor and stop reading Marvel altogether. Why put yourselves through that torture? confused

I can't speak for everyone but I personally can't hate on something I haven't read/listened to/viewed. My personal anti-marvel stance is not buying it anymore...I stopped reading about 9 titles and only download for free Exiles and Hulk mainly. I do download a few other titles time to time to see if its still crap and it is.

See the hard part is you grow up reading these books and you love the characters....the history...and though it makes you angry to see 1 guy practically destroy that you can't give up hope that it will change someday. Unfortunetly we are not dealing with a hack writer that will only be around temporarily we are dealing with a egomaniac hack editor...They last a LOT longer unfortunetly....

Well, I've dropped a huge amount of Marvel titles of late. The only ones I'm really sticking with are Astonishing X-Men, Uncanny X-Men & Daredevil. I'm doing trades of Ultimate Spider-Man. I've been fairly patient with a lot of Quesada's tomfoolery, but Civil War just broke the camel's hump with me. Turning Iron Man into a villian was pretty ridiculous, and I felt the whole series was just chocked full of out-of-character moments for...oh...just about everybody. Hiring Millar, who is great on things like The Authority, was a huge mistake. He absolutely cannot write the Marvel characters, as he obviously doesn't understand them at all.

It's sad to me, because I love these characters, but I'm truly hating the stories that are being told. I have no problem with shaking up the status quo. In fact, I often think that is an important thing to do with comics. The problem is, Quesada seems to be flying by the seat of his pants, not really having a clear-cut plan in place. He has Millar turn Tony Stark into a Judas-style backstabber, but the motivation was just so weak. The problem isn't with the concepts, but rather with the execution.

If it weren't for Brubaker, Whedon and Slott, I'd pretty much be writing Marvel off the way I did in the early 90's.
