I can barely read Marvel now its become this den of nonsense and "bottom line im gonna shock you but offer you little substance" bull now. They don't kill or do anything with characters that actually pertain to anything storywise hardly...they do it to shock you. It gets old real fast....And it's all because they have an editor who thinks he is the shit and no one is there to tell him he's not cause they all left.... I'm not too fond of the way Joe Quesada is handling Marvel, either. I would rather have had a Captain America comic to read than a dead Captain America and one less comic book. I don't buy that many Marvel comics anymore, but Captain America was one of those that I bought. I liked the stories by Ed Brubaker. I will miss reading it. [Edited 3/9/07 5:54am] i definitely think marvel is more of a whore to licensing than DC is, to the point where it renders the actual storytelling (you know, the stuff they're supposed to be in the business of doing) almost totally moot. of course, DC is huge on licensing too, but i think they do a FAR better job of protecting the integrity editorially, so writers can make risks that are more provocative than "OMFG LET'S KILL WONDER WOMAN LOL"

People complaining about how they hate Joe Quesada and they can barely read Marvel should just do themselves a favor and stop reading Marvel altogether. Why put yourselves through that torture?

I guess for the same reason that some Prince fans suffered through that period of "questionable" recordings and releases.....the hope that something better lay on the other side of the rainbow..... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

actually...i don't! i haven't touched any of the x-men comics for a couple of years now because i think that entire franchise went down the shitter creatively. i'm giving up on the spiderman stuff because it's already starting to just turn into movie tie-ins. i kinda dug the civil war stuff, though i thought it had a weak ending. i thought the art was kinda gorgeous. these days, i mainly just get trade paperback anthologies of old comics i liked the first time around, or kitschy/interesting old comic book anthologies (i love anything BIZARRO related). DC does a good job at putting out new comics with hundreds of superheros in each issue. i have a weakness for that, maybe cuz those were the ones my mom always used to get me when i was a kid because she thought it was more economical - more superheroes per page = good value!
