Ivy's weightloss bitching thread (The Org Biggest Loser Challenge Weeks 3 & 4)

Okay.

Why is it that when you want to eat healthier, the food sucks? I'm sitting here eating a lumpy gross looking yogurt. barf

Why does it cost more to eat healthier, too? I bought Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, South Beach Diet and Smart Ones and that isht cost me a grip. disbelief

Anybody actaully want to do an Org contest for the next six months to see who loses the most weight?

Bitch about your weightloss issues here. lol

I've been gaining weight. confused

I hate winter.

My pants I was so excited to fit into and were almost big on me at one point are now barely able to squeeze my belly in.

But - I'm trying not to give up. We'll see. I really got bored of it all and decided that I love food and that that's ok with me. lol

So maybe I'm in. Maybe. lol

i had a plumpy weekend this past weekend, i know it. i had lots of candy and last night i had a HUGE mug of sipping chocolate before bed...you're only supposed to have a tiny little cup of that stuff because it's so rich. OOPS! redface

i've been doing REALLY well over the past year - as of the beginning of this year i've been fluxuating between 140 - 145lb (i'm used to being 155 - 160), and i've gone from a 32" waist to a 30" waist.

i know i've started to blow all that to hell over the past few days...it's this stupid cold weather - it makes me just wanna eat, sleep and cry! mad

Carbohydrates smile That means little to no bread, rice, potatoes, beans. Quite perilous as all those things are delish lol My friend Sandy dropped 60 pound in around 6 months, cutting carbs and exercising. She mainly walked, nothing crazy.

i don't believe in diets that advise immoderate avoidance of certain things. i think the faster acting the crash diet, the faster you risk putting all that weight back on if you falter.

i think smaller portions works.
i think regular exercise works.
i think not drinking a giant mug of sipping chocolate before bed works.

i'm so anti-atkins diet it's not even funny. then again, i'm a vegetarian, so why would i like it? lol

nod

exactly. It'll never work cause that means you have to cut out carbs for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Whatever way you choose to eat, you have to eat that way FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Fad diets will never work. It's all about portion control, careful choices, exercise and persistance.

That said, I have a hard time finding diets and recipes for losing weight that are also vegatarian. It makes me sad. pout

hey, now - it took 36 years and a two-month illness to get to where my weight got over the past year. lol

also, one side of my family is made up of obese people and i was a fat kid until i was about 13 or 14. it takes effort for me to keep the weight off, belive me.

the older i get, the more worth it it becomes...and the easier it gets to just not eat crap. oh, i'll still eat plenty of horrible foods, but not as often as i used to.

winter is a hard time for me, like it is for everyone. if you can get good habits going on during this cold weather, the pounds are just gonna fall off you in spring and summer.

You're going to have to make it yourself. Prepackaged foods aren't the way to go anyway, if this really is about your health and changing your lifestyle. I would suggest going to the library, Stymie, and starting with some books on basic nutrition. Once you've got the basics down, finding recipes that allow you to count the calories and fat and such will be the key.

Well, I went the prepackaged route because I do not have time to cook in the evenings. My grandmother or uncle take care of dinner for the kids. The weekend may be open to trying lowfat recipes though. hmmm

I hear you. The convenience is the trouble, but that's also what you're paying extra for. They're not an awful place to start and it will help you start to recoginize reasonable portions and such. Once you've got some time on the weekends to start experimenting with recipes, you can look for things you can (at least partially) prepare ahead of time for your week and freeze. Also - since you're a meat eater there are LOTS of things you can do to quickly prepare a portion of meat and lots of veggies for yourself for a well-balanced and healthy dinner.

MOTHERFUCKING ORG!!!! Shit. I typed up a whole mess of shit and it all dissapeared.

Anyways, I gained 30 pounds last year, which places me above my upper weight limit for my height. Originally I was trying to gain weight, but in the form of muscle. It didn't go that way. falloff

So now I'm having to work my ass off to lose the weight (it's always hardest to lose weight when you're above a certain zone confuse ).

Anyways, the most difficult things that I find in doing this is:

1) My mind always tricks itself into thinking that I'm being punished for not being able to eat the nast sweet foods I love so much. In reality, what is the prize of eating this nasty food? It's a trap of the mind.

2) I always plateua--this is due to a mental block. You reach a point where you don't see results, and you think you're done. You get frustrated. In reality, if you're working out 5 times a week, you *are* improving continually, even if the scale doesn't reflect it.

3) I always feel like I'm not gaining results as fast as I should. THis again, I feel is a mental trap. Truth of the matter is, if you really apply yourself, you are improving.

One of the perks of going back to the gym this time is that I'm getting a personal trainer. He has the god damned nicest ass I've ever seen on a man. It's pert, firm, and god damned divine.

His ass is my new clarion call to a more disciplined life. I intend to have an ass at least half as nice by the end of 2007.

But I already know the diet they will set me up on : 5 small meals a day. There's a formula they use for the calories your allowed. Folling it brings dramatic results. Also, I'll be supplementing CLA , HMV, and creatine into my routine. I hope this helps me a bit.

Anyways, great thread. Good luck everyone.

We should collectively come up with a "collective number" all of us need to lose, say a combined "150 pounds", and each work towards contributing to that goal. It's always nice to pull for a team.

The Atkins diet works.

But...it's very unnatural, and ultimately unhealthy. If you want to be thin, great do it--it works. But if you want to be healthy, avoid that shit at all cost.

Plus, who the hell wants to eat that much meat in their diets? Colon cancer anyone? ill

By the way, I'm not doting on you or anything, but what do you do for that ass of yours? It's great. A great great ass.

YAY!!

Good for you, Ivy! I'm not ready to call myself a vegetarian yet cause I still crave it once in a while, but I've managed to limit myself to only eating meat if I'm having a fancy dinner out and something really strikes me on the menu or if I'm having dinner with my family (cause they're just way too difficult to explain it all to lol ). When I was in LA I has some scallops that were TO DIE FOR with truffle oil and this wonderful risotto and I can't imagine giving up meals like that for the rest of my life. But other than that, it's essentially out of my diet, other than a treat now and again.

I know I alone want to lose 75 pounds. Depending on who's up for it, that'll be a huge chunk right there, pun intended. razz
