Soy: really... UNhealthy? http://www.mercola.com/ar...id_soy.htm
I've been reading a bit lately about Soy products (above article just one example) and it seems it's not so good for you. It inhibits protein absorption apparently. If this is true it puts me an annoying position. I took up Soy milk because I heard cow's milk affects the nasal cavity and sinus of caucasians, increasing mucus or making it worse or something similar. I do a lot of exercise and rely on milk of some kind for a large chunk of my protein and calcium. I don't want to reduce my breathing capacity by going back to cow's milk or start looking for new sources of calcium. Does anyone else have info or thoughts on this issue? | |

ER ATION. Soybeans are very healthy. But suddenly ingesting loads of processed soy products ("veggie" burgers, dogs, soymilk) is obviously going to fuck with your system. It's processed food. And yes, dairy can aggravate sinus passages, increase mucus conditions and clog your liver. Too much dairy is bad, too much soy is bad. Have some organic whole-milk dairy, and some soy, and some eggs, and some vegetables. You'll be fine. The Normal Whores Club | |

i've heard so many contradictions about what is good for us and what is not i don't buy ANY of it anymore.
eggs - we were told they were bad. now it turns out they are ok carrots - we were told they helped with macular degeneration. now we find that they do not daily multi-vitamins - my doctor used to verify that i was taking one each day. now, most brands are suspect - no, harmful - due to extra high lead content. vitamin e and a - we were told these are good for our skin. now, it turns out that in daily dosage form they are harmful and even toxic everytime someone claims that a food or mineral works wonder for your health, someone else tries to prove said beneficial effect and whoops! guess what? not true after all. | |

funkmistress is 100% correct: it's ALLLL about moderation and variety.
i think even if you're vegan or lactose intolerant you can have a healthy diet without diary products, but again, you have to make sure you're getting the right nutrients. | |
