I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!

I just want to confess to you all that I've been about 80% deaf over the past week.

I had a flu that turned into a sinus infection that turned into a really really bad case of clogged ears, and for the past seven or eight days I've barely been able to hear anything.

And just about 10 minutes ago, my right ear popped...so now I'm half NOT-80%-deaf! woot!

Not hearing sux, though at work it's not so bad because you miss out on a lot of things that usually get on your nerves.

Otherwise though, suck city.

Any good advice or techniques for ear popping?

Oh, I'm right there with you.

Yesterday, I breathed in through my nose a little too aggressively, and my head totally clogged up. It freaked me out!!! It took ten minutes before everything equalized.

Yuck!! sad

really? did it matter if it was on hot or cool?

i did the thing where you hold your nostrils, shut your mouth, and blow from your throat really hard. and after a week, it finally worked! one one ear, anyway...

the feeling of it unclogging was INTENSE. nuts

DOn't do Ear Candleing. There are medications you can get to help your ears pop. You basically did what I would have, which I think can damage your ears, though it seems to help.

I went swimming in a pool a few years ago and water got in one of my ears and sealed it up for days. I eventually went to a doctor who flushed my ear out. He didn't show me what came out of it. I'm thinking it was a dead rat. I shouldn't have eaten at KFC that one time. neutral

oh, i know ALL about the evils of ear candling, don't worry! lol

the popping seems to be yielding miraculous results. i think i'm going to go around holding my nose and blowing in my mouth for a while, i'm sure it makes a good impression when i'm doing it on the subway platform like i did today, ha.

Psuedofed and an antinflammatory, such as Naproxsyn or Advil. Follow directions on the bottles. Psuedofed is a decongestant.

I get this problem pretty often. My sinuses suck.

That seal-your-nose-and-mouth-and-exhale thing works, but it sometimes hurts... and I can't imagine it's really good for you. When I was younger, my tear ducts would actually bubble when I did it sometimes. omfg

Decongestants usually work for me.
