It was freaky and gory, but that's exactly why I liked it. The effects were great for that time, IMO. Most other movies from back then you look back on and laugh at how cheesy the effects were, but The Thing is top notch.
One of the girls in my class looks like the Thing Dog. I swear to God, her face looks just like it.

'salems lot' when i was about 10 (the Master scared me, those boys scaping on the window and that guy sat on the rocking chair). more disturbing was 'a short film about killing', later 'blue velvet' and recently, the violence in the 'passion of the christ'.

When I was ten or twelve this guy in his late thirties came to our place with a couple of VHS tapes...well, The Exorcist was one of them and though it didn´t really freak me out it was still a weird film to watch at the age of ten.

I've grown up loving scary movies... not gorey, but good old fashioned scary. two that stick out from childhood are "Something Wicked this Way Comes" and "The Twilight Zone Movie" (wanna see something reaaaaally scary? evillol)

"American Werewolf in Paris" was a film I never forgot either boxed ...and in more recent years "The Ring" had that jolt effect too (particularly when Samara comes out of the TV screen)

I love a good scare giggle

Even though its pretty cheesy now, I saw The Exorcist at a very early age...difficult to choose between the head spinning and the part when Father Damien assumes the possession at the end for overt effects creepiness...and if you watch the scene on the DVD when Regan does the inverted spider walk down the stairs.. eek ...I would have shot that little bitch where she stood...love my daughter, but ya gotta go....the music was pretty creepy, too....

The Omen (original).....they found the right little kid to play Damien....little fucker!!

for more recent fare, the darkness of The Decent..... eek ...I watched it on my laptop (before it died...) with headphones....so every jolting effect made me jump.....

the funny part is, at that part of the movie, none of the freaky shit happened yet. Just out of nowhere she came down the stairs ALL FUCKED UP. I swear to god I would have FLIPPED. They were just like, oh, let's go see the therapist.

hmmm tell me, why do you believe that you've been possessed? Isn't this really a cry for attention, Regan?

Salo
August Underground Mordum
Sweet Movie
To a lesser extent, Cannibal Holocaust.

They all made me feel bad, bad about the world, bad about people, bad about myself - a mood that I'd prefer to avoid.
