So today as I was coming home from work I tried to pull into the underground parking garage here and somebody had slid into it and broke off the key code thing which meant I couldn't get in. That sucked but the roads are really good and I have no idea why everyone in Minnesota is freaking out so much and acting as if the world is ending. The highways are scraped clean.

They weren't when I normally leave for work, which is 5:30am. And the side streets weren't done yet. I got my car stuck twice in front of Darin's house on sunday. If I get stuck at 5:30 in the morning on my own there's no one to help me out. |

What's so wrong with just stopping once in a while and acknowledging that there's something bigger than us? When something truly forces you to stop and take pause, why can't we just enjoy it for a moment? Why does it have to be business and commerce as usual? I know I don't do that enough. And I'm gonna enjoy my snow day, dammit. People have been flying off the roads by the hundreds. I don't feel like spending my day digging out of a dtich or worse. So there. I had more fun tromping through the snow last night than I remember in a long time. I was giggling the entire walk there and back. |

TOTALLY. It dawned on me how big the Denver Christmas blizzard was when all of the metro area malls closed just days before Christmas. And that's when I took time to stop griping about being "stuck" at my parents' house and not out doing the things I had planned to do while home. I ended up having a really good time hanging with my parents', and my doggie! http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

But I've already been out for a couple of walks and I think most of the roads will be clear enough this evening to maybe trek out past my neighborhood. |

july said: july said: We had snow flurries in the for for the last few days. Even today, but none on ground. It melts. Friday it's gonna be like 56 degrees and raining. Updraft from Hawaii. Warm rain. But we still huddle around and stumble into coffee shops for warm desserts and act all cold, when it's actually nice outside. Just wet. We ain't happy unless it 70 degrees. 60, no. 50, no. 70, 80. Yes.
Saturday. 60 degrees. | |

You certainly are entitled to your snowday but for the official record I work nights so I was out a lot earlier then 5:30 and and the highways were nearly perfect late Thursday night and they were really really perfect at 9:00 Friday morning when I was coming home. I also didn't see any cars in the ditch on highway 94 between Maplewood and Minneapolis on either end of my journey. Also we only got 9 inches of snow which I am not sure is bigger then all of us. So anyway I still stand by my statement that we (as in Minnesotans in general) are becoming wimps but the weatherman are partially to blame building up all this hysteria. [Edited 3/2/07 23:37pm]

The funny thing is me and Amy went out to eat and to Walmart around 7:00 and the roads were way worse then they were in the morning just from the little dusting of snow that was coming down. It was like nothing but the roads were getting slick. I think they sent home all the plows to finally get some rest and the chemicals were drying up.
