(good old central Pa ...)after spending some time in europa ... and my only comment is ... to those who say the US isnt the greatest country ... on many levels ... u are correct ... but ... u also have to say ... that we are a great country . We are terribly unique ... and have a lot of great ideals ... maybe we dont have the greatest LEGAL system ... but its ideals are strong... maybe we dont have the greatest HEALTHCARE ("for all", perhaps , like u do in most european countries) ... but ... on many levels ... it is where most sick people come to get better ... or shall i say ... where most prevalent and rich people come to get better ... so it is looked up to ...I can go on and on ... America ... isnt perfect ... i do agree with u soulpower, but ... lol ... i could go on and on ...(if they would just elect me president ... it would be perfect)... I remember loving Germany ... and Italy ... and Greece all had its unique cultures ... but ... all the countries ... in my book ... are not perfect ... the cost of the health care system in general ... is enormous ...to the average German. In the US... people say the VA hospitals are the closest things ... to what the europeans have in terms of everyone being covered , but perhaps not the best med care... I was in a German hospital (one of my good friends had to have an appendectomy ) and i remember all the americans commenting on how old and dirty the hospital was ... the healthcare debate is a confusing one ... to me ... i do see the view that everyone ... in a perfect world ... should be covered ... but then again ... it also ... drags others down ... for example ... if i dont smoke ... why should i pay ... the additional ... monthly expense ... for those who have-in general- less good health and choose to smoke ... it is a complicated thing ... and thus ... why the americans ... choose ... so far ... not to go with universal health care ... ok... enough rantin ... and it is a good topic ...not really prince related ..hmmm... let me think .. well ... i can make it prince related ... prince wrote ... ronny talk to russia ... which was political ... so .. i guess ... he thought that the US isnt always right either , right!!?? therefore, the US isnt always the greatest country in the world ... whew ... a stretch , i know i know .. . get off the podium... | |

I'm sorry, but this stat offers so much information I did not feel the need to add my own opinion on it. however, you are righ. I was expecting a discussion on the topic, where we could all talk about those points... however, all I found was a bunch of american patriots who can not handle to just face some numbers without starting to insult the person who posted them. its a phenomena that I have only experienced in america... that people feel personally offened when somebody dares to critisize their governments policies... nobody except one or two peeps had the will to seriously debate this topic... and what worries me most was the aggression in the flame posts... which again show me that many parts of those numbers have to be right. what makes you think that those statistics are meaningless? because you declare them? if I didnt put those numbers up and if I simply explained and stated those points without refernce, then I would have been accused of not giving any factual numbers. now that I did, you are still not happy.
