hugging etiquette

a friend of mine recently told me that the direction of a hug has positive or negative meanings. eek i've always hugged people toward their right shoulder - the other way just seems unnatural.

so after she said that, i've started watching people, and it seems that the right shoulder hug is the most common.

what is your hugging preference? hmmm

hug lol what about an unexpected peck on the cheek? when that happens to me, i have typically already moved on toward the person's ear, and kissing them there just adds a whole different level to the exchange... lol

UGH GAWD!!!!!
Don't EVEN fall into that trap IB.
UGH.

This one time when I was really young, I don't know, I must have been in science class or something, and the teacher was saying how everyone JUST BREATHES without thinking about it, yanno, we just do it.

So of course, I START THINKING about it. And it became a THING where like I MADE myself breathe. IN and OUT IN and OUT.

Now do it.

It gets old huh?

So STILL to this day, every so often I DO the breathing thing whenever I am reminded, (like by this thread) and then the breathing DOESNT come natureal, it becomes a chore.

Your doing it rite now aren't you?

Its ANNOYING isn't it?

UGH!

So anyway, don't fall into the trap, of UNNATURAL hugging.

DONT DO IT!

Like, if it's a really tall guy, then I'm all about the middle, under the chin. lol Or if hugging goodbye while seated in a car, that can always be awkward.

Oh, how interesting. I'm gonna be watching for huggers all the time now.

I'm not a touchy feely person myself so I don't hug people (just my son, of course).

Sometimes there is.

I hug everyone too, but like, when its the inlaws or sometimes my mom there is DEF negativity in it.

And IB, I'm doing this new thing, where I don't hold stuff in. I confront my feelings, and then calmly make them known.

Well, I couldn't help but notice that you responded to everyone in the thread but me. That hurt my feelings.

i personally think i give good hug. i didn't know about all this right/left code of honor stuff. i need to start dating a right handed person so i can make them hug all my friends and family members for me and nobody will be offended. he can hug my mom and i can say "oh, that's from both of us." nod
