Who would you die for? .
Imagine that by sacrificing your own life you could save someone else's life. Imagine also that you are not able to ask the person in question what they think you should do. Would you do it for: 1. Your child (if any)? 2. Your sibling (if any)? 3. Your parent? 4. Your closest relative outside the immediate family? 5. Your best friend? 6. A "regular" friend? 7. An acquaintance or random colleague? 8. A stranger a lot younger than you? 9. A stranger the same age as you? 10. A stranger a lot older than you? 11. Someone you strongly dislike? .

Ex-Moderator | I don't think I could answer without knowing the circumstances. And even then, I don't know that I'd know until it happened to me.
It's easy to say now, sure I'd die for so-and-so or no way would I die for them, but I don't think I'd be able to say for sure until I was faced with that choice. [Edited 2/26/07 15:33pm] |

[Edited 2/26/07 15:33pm] The circumstances are not important. The important thing is that there are no other alternatives; a life for a life - that's it. I understand that you might act diffeently when actually faced with the situation, but please do you best to imagine what you would do.

I understand that you might act diffeently when actually faced with the situation, but please do you best to imagine what you would do. I can't. Under certain circumstances I can easily see myself giving my life up for anyone. Under others, maybe no one. Other than maybe my nieces and nephews. And a few of my closest friends. I don't know! I certainly don't see myself as a hero type. I don't think I'd randomly run into a burning building to save a stranger. I'd more likely find someone else to do that. But were I stranded somewhere and there was only enough food for one, would I consider suicide to help just about whoever else might be with me? Maybe... Maybe I'd rather die under the circumstances. |

1. Your child (if any)? I don't have any.
Well....none worth mentioning, that is. 2. Your sibling (if any)? I'm attached to my brother from the hip down.
If he dies, I die. So, I guess this question is sort of a grey area for me. 3. Your parents? No. There's no point. They're both ""born again".
4. Your closest relative outside the immediate family? That would be my dog.
And he licks himself & eats his own vomit. So would I die for him? You do the math. 5. Your best friend? My dog is my best friend. See previous answer.
6. A "regular" friend? Since joining the org, I've practically divorced myself from the rest of humanity. You guys here on this site are the only friends I have. For this answer, see the last sentence from question # 4.
7. An acquaintance or random colleague? I never went to colleague (heck...I barely got my GED!), so I don't have aquaintance from one.
8. A stranger a lot younger than you? No. But if by younger, you mean like a baby, I would probably try to help 'em.
But only if I don't have to crawl down a well or somethin'. 9. A stranger the same age as you? Okay , now I feel like this questionnaire is just grasping at straws.
10. A stranger a lot older than you? Actually, I'm pretty old myself.
So it's likely that anyone older than me is probably praying for the sweet of release of death already 11. Someone you strongly dislike? Not applicable. For someone to strongly dislike someone else would mean that they would have to care in the first place.
Those of you familiar with my posts know by now, that for me, those nerve-endings died a long time ago. Thanx for the questions, Ret. It was fun. // [Edited 2/26/07 16:08pm]

They know who they are...
I hold them dear to me and I would most certainly die for them in a heartbeat.

Please don't judge me for this answer. I think long and hard about weird things like this as I'm sure others do. I would truly die for anyone, even a stranger who happens to be an awful person. There is no way I expect anyone to understand, to believe my answer, or to relate, but I am completely comfortable with death even if it means a true end of life. I would rather die than be responsible for someone else's death.
Additionally, the other person, 99% of the time, is much more likely to have more to live for than I do right now. That's not meant to sound dark--it's just the truth. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

For any one of my 5 children and no one else. My parents I would die for too, but knowing them the way I do they would never let me do it.
