My best jobs are a tossup between what I do know (Teaching & Coaching Football) and Bartending. I love being around people and helping them out so I guess in someways I am able to do this at all of the aforementioned jobs.

My worst ever job is a toss up between Grave Digger & Security Guard at a Jewlery Store at a huge ass mall. The grave digger one was a bummer, but I needed extra money while I was doing my student teaching to pay the bills. The security guard at the mall sucked cause I had to wear this silly ass coat and tie while I wore an ear piece and hat that said security to look official. I had this job my senior year of high school. That job consisted of walking in a 12 by 12 rectangle in front of the store and checking off a list that nothing suspicious happened every half hour.

So what was your best and worst jobs folks?

I can't really complain, haven't had that many crap jobs. Waiting tables was both hellish & great for me - made me a little less shy but drove me fucking nuts

The one and only pots and pan washer in Jester dormitory's cafeteria, the largest dorm in the United States, when I was an undergrad, for one month one summer.

My current job about 15 years ago i was out of work and took a job as a toilet salesman. It was a shitty job

so would i! unfortunately, that's not what the miserable job was about. to take advantage of bulk rates, mailers must be presorted by zipcode prior to being dropped off at the post office for mailing. if you look at the "stamp" location on junkmail you often see the word "presorted" or "prsrt," indicating that it is subject to bulk mailing rates. some poor sap (me for about eight months) had to presort thousands of those mailers into piles according to the addressees zipcode.

I took a temp job where my mom worked the summer before college reorganizing a filing system and preparing it to be entered on microfiche. (Remember microfiche?? ) All day long I went through files, sorted through the contents and pulled out stuff to throw away and put the files back into big cardboard boxes. Handling the paper and file folders all day made my hands increibdly dry and I finally had to start wearing gloves when I'd put the files away cause I would get hangnails and they'd catch on the files and BLEED.

Washing dishes may have been the most disgusting. It was my first job, other than babysitting. But it wasn't all THAT bad either, all things considered.

I worked another temp job once in a factory doing packaging. That only lasted a week. I hated that job. The monotony was enough to drive me insane after a day.

best job: it wasn't really a job, per se, but still--i became friends with a cat who had a recording studio and wrecka sto over in uptown. it wasn't around for a really long time...it was over on lake street and it was called dreamvision. the dude sold mostly vinyl, and i helped him sort through vinyl and set it up on the shelves. i got paid in vinyl, which was sweet...plus i bought a turntable, receiver and speakers from him for only $80. bestest semi-job everrrrr! unfortunately he couldn't run the store and his studio at the same time, so he had to close the store a few months later. i miss that place.

worst job: it's a tie between detasseling corn and telemarketing. for the detasseling job, i had to get up at the crack o'dawn almost every day during the summer, get on a school bus with a bunch of other kids and get taken to some corn field all the way out in the boonies of iowa, and wander through the fields all day and get muddy and dirty and hot/sweaty and miserable.

the telemarketing was a bit better, but not by much...sitting on my behind all day and getting told off by people who didn't wanna be bothered with shit like bank cards n'such. it was SO depressing at times. the only good things i got outta that gig were coming up with the money and design for my very first tattoo (seriously--i doodled it up while taking calls).

Best: Filmmaker
Worst: Substitute teacher

Best: Researcher, Sanders Brown Center On Aging, University of Kentucky. I was part of an Alzheimer's disease study for awhile. It probably would've been a bit heartbreaking if I'd worked with the Alzheimer's people, but still informative. I worked with the control group, however.

Worst: This shit job I'm at now. Customer care consultant for the north east Verizon wireless customers. Fuck you all. I hope you die.

Worst job was my previous one, where the only fun were the great colleagues I had. It was at a newsstand at one of the biggest train stations in Holland, where people can also get ciggies and travel cards. Real stoopid work, but it paid the bills, barely.

Fun job was at another bookstore with a stock that closely followed the pulse of my personality. Always something to read, getting to know MORE great writers.

To date the worst job I've had was as a bus person at the downtown Hilton at home. The best job is a toss up between the one I have now and my previous job although, I had my own office with a great view of downtown at my previous job so I think that one beats this one out by a door and four walls.

WORST: Without a doubt it has to be when I was a collector for Sears Credit Central..nothing worse than getting cursed out 40 times a day...

BEST: I was an assistant manager of a men's clothing store....got to wear suits and sharp shit....a close second was working at MACY's....high commissions and it was a blast being the only straight male working in the mens department....

I don't think I've ever had a "best" job.



I had fun working at a movie theatre when I was young, then I became manager and my boss was god awful. But Prince used to come in, so there was that.

I actually enjoyed working at a post office sorting office. Started at 6am and finished at midday, wandering off into town to have my lunch before heading home for an afternoon to do whatever I wanted.

I didn't enjoy working at Indalex Aluminium. This dude I worked with was 30 something but looked about 50. He never said a word to me and looked about ready to die every day. I just took aluminium girders off a machine and lowered them down into a kind of large shopping trolley looking container. Hellish punishment on the biceps as you had to kinda hold them out with your arms outstretched before putting them down in there. Did that thousands of times a day, then trudging out of the factory one afternoon I looked at all the dark, glum, spaced-out faces and realised I was starting to look like that too.

Hmmm that depends on what you are judging...Money or satisfaction?

I have never had both at the same time.
My worst has always been a job where I am stuck at a desk all day and cannot get up much.
so I guess working for Xerox was the worst since I was stuck in my seat all day- though the pay was pretty good.
Best I guess would be most rewarding ones- cannot pick just one though-
I worked for a custom wheel chair facility and it was awesome to see the designs and fabrications and see how much you helped enrich someones life- but the pay was very low.
My current job involves making more money then I ever have but I am stuck at a desk part of the day- up and down a lot which I like and it is ever changing. I am involved with conducting clinical trials for drug manufacturers which causes conflict within myself when I think of the profits but I have to remember that we are trying to help with such diseases as Alzheimer's, Depression and Diabetes to name just a few. So I am constantly learning and meeting new people. I do a lot of Alzheimer's testing so it is very interesting and depressing as well.
So..I guess some days I am mixed about if it is the best job for me.
