Question for domestic people.

Okay.

Countertops, rite?

I love granite, but I like tile a lot too.

And tile would match well, cuzza the tile in front of the fire place.

But I'm nervous about the grout getting yucky?

Does the grout get yucky?

Grout gets majorly yucky. If you spill something like wine or grape juice in it -- fahgetaboutit.

I much prefer the granite countertops. My brother and sister-in-law had them installed not too long ago. I think they're beautiful.

Don't like tile countertops. It's too dated looking (very 50s/60s) and high maintenance. I'm not a fan of granite either.

I'd go for slate.

A couple of friends of mine have tile and they actually had to have it professionally steam cleaned to get the gunk out. ill
If you're thinking of selling, though, it probably is a good/easy way to spruce up your kitchen. You can seal the grout and it'll take you through until you sell. It takes a while to get to the super gross stage. lol

Tile = bad. Grout = BAD.

If you can afford it, do granite or something. I would personally like butcher block, stainless steel, or concrete. But they all have pros/cons.

No, bad advice!

Kitchens can make a sale! If you can, invest in a good countertop. You'll make your money back and more.

Surething: Slate can be expensive, but like I said, it's worth the investment.

Granite is great Dani, as it can hold up well. Always use a cutting board, cuz granite will dull your knives fast.

And, if you like/want the look of tile, use it as a backsplash perhaps. smile

If money is not an issue, there are some really beautiful, lesser known stones that you can use...but they come with a hefty price.

A cheaper but not as commonly used option would be travertine.

I love granite but you have to be careful because if a glass falls over in any way it shatters.....( One would think well geees how often does that happen but my girlfriends with it and kids complain about it)

I have white tile and white grout in this house and after 7 years it is still pure white and beautiful.....thanks to this:

I never have to rub or scrub.... just spray it on and walk away... Wipe off later....

Well, the people who lived in the house before them (they just bought it about three years ago) weren't exactly the cleanest folk. lol

Yeah, I mean, I wipe my counters down constantly anyways, with that lysol kitchen cleaner.

I was just curious about little crumbs getting in the grooves where the grout meets the tile.

Eww eek lol hug

some people choose not to use chemicals on their counters though ... chemical free homes and all ... doesn't mean the people or homes are nasty by any means
