Back pain. Any advice?

The past couple of nights I've been having horrible back pain.

I spend all day at work sitting in a chair, doing customer service. I get up periodically and stretch, and try to stand on my breaks and so on. Last night it was particularly bad though. I came home, laid down on the couch, and my back got so tensed up I couldn't even move for awhile. I eventually got myself up and going about 12:30 when my fiance called me on his break from work to say hello. He had me take a hot bath, which helped while I was in there, but after I was out, I laid down in bed, and I swear... it was horrible.

And I can't afford to go to a chiropractor right now. sad
This one's for you.

1) What part of the back. Between the shoulder blades or the lower back?

2) HOw often do you excercise?

3) What kind of shoes do you wear?

Get one of those beaded wood things that you sit on a chair with that like every asian person in california (including myself) own. They look cheesy but the shit works!
Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Don't Talk About It, Be About It!

can Alex give you a lower back massage? When you sleep roll a beach towel up and place in your lower back (if you sleep on your back).
Break up all that sitting at work with stretching breaks every 20 mins or so.

I usually have back pain between my shoulder blades, a little more to the right size. This has, however, been my lower back.

my exercise is practically non-existant these days because I'm so fucking lazy now that I actually have a full time job.

Shoes depend on the day. 2 days a week are casual that I work so I go for regular tennis shoes. Depending on the outfit the rest of the time, heels or flats. I usually opt for flats, but a girl's gotta wear heels sometimes.
This one's for you.

Are you under alot of stress?

The first thing I would do is try and wear shoes that allow you to use those inserts. Normally this affects lower back pain.

Also, exercise often helps with back pain, especially situps--strong stomach muscles actually reinforce the back and take some of the stress of of the back.

I normally get upper back pain if I'm about to get sick with a cold or flue (not sure why shrug), or if I'm under alot of stress.

I get lower back pain if I've been skipping the gym. Exercise seems to help me out alot. I'm speaking of resistance training though. Not arobic.

But these things work for ME. I have no clue what officially would help someone else. A friend of mine sees a chiropractor and she says he works wonders.

sigh

I used to go to the chiropractor every week to work on my upper back. It did help a great deal. My first thought was to scrounge together the money and go this time, but I really can't afford to.

I'm going to work on some situps every night and see what I can do.

I always thought sitting in a chair all day would be good, but it's kind of kicking my ass I think.
This one's for you.

Also, this will sound weird but Tai Chi could help.

It's cheaper than seeing a chiropractor, and performing Tai Chi massages 98 percent of the muscles in your body. I new a couple Nurses who swore by it.

And once you've learned and practiced Tai Chi, there's no need to keep paying for classes. shrug

falloff

They sell videos for it on amazon for less than 30 bucks.
And there are TONS of books on it.

It's not as good as being in front of a real life instructor, but if you're disciplined, it'll probably work fine.

Tai Chi, good shoes, and resistance training (with situps of course). Try that.

I would take emm's advice. Her advice helped me permanently get rid of Confused Red Flour Beetles from my kitchen without harsh chemicals or sprays.

Maybe your bum should become a part of this, then. This relationship is obviously too one-sided.
