I think it'sad that the director of Taxi Driver, raging bull, goodfellas, and Alice Doesn't Live Here anymore... was finally awarded for a REMAKE OF A FILM.
And it wasn't the best film of the year either.

so what was the best film of the year..in your opinion?
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

but out of the films nominated for Best Film I gotta agree with the vote. Babel was my fav of the bunch but even that was unevent. Little Miss Sunshine was/is an overbloated sitcom episode. Cute, yes but deserving of Best Picture? Hell To The NO!!!

And I totally disagree with you on Arkin's win. IMHO Murphy blew the house down in Dreamgirls. He was dramatic, he sang, he did comedy and he did it all perfectly. The look of sadness on his face said way way more then anything Arkin did using words in LMS. He did it with his eyes...it was subtle and deep and haunts me to this day.

Arkin, like soo many others got it for being an old fart...just like Jack Palance, Morgan Freeman, George Burns, Art Carney and a host of other old men who end up winning Supporting Actor awards...Its the total opposite of Supporting Actress which tends to go to the hot young thing...hence Marisa Tomei winning...and Juliette Binoche beating Lauren Bacall.

but, thats all just my take on things...i know we all have our own lil theories.

Well, to me, eddie was only playing the same role he plays in every movie he does. I was not impressed. I'm glad Alan Arkin won but Marky Mark really should have won, IMHO.

Actually, Leon Talley from Vogue magazine groomed her.

Forrest Whittaker's speech was amazing and moving, and it seemed so genuine (of course he did just win for best actor wink ) But it's great to see a REAL actor be rewarded, not just a movie star, face, nude scene, showcase performance, but rather an acting job!

I thought Kate Winslet looked great, if kind of boring. Penelope looked hot, as did Reese.

Nice to see Scorsese win. I thought the Departed was great. Even the actors who I'm not crazy about were good in it.

I was shocked to hear that it was his 1st time winning the oscar disbelief The man has a LUSH history of impressive filmography.

And I agree about Forrest,,,,,he came along way as an actor as well as a director, glad to see him getting his dues.

definitely, but I don't really love any of the actors, Matt Damon, Leo, Alec, even Martin Sheen, and they were all good. A very solid movie with one coincidence I wish they'd left out

This was the first year I watched the entire awards I think. After all the time I invested watching films that were nominated (28 overall), I felt I had to see the whole show. It was okay. It was almost as if Jack Nicholson knew Scorsese was going to win.

Didn't we all? The director's award was a lock, I wasn't so sure about winning for best picture.

whoa @ Hudson winning eek

i knew for sure she was winning the Golden Globe but honestly i thought the Oscar was so going for the Asian girl from Babel.

but i'm happy for her,, sitting at home for a while after getting the boot from A.Idol, being casted for D.Girls, told off, asked again, told off, asked again and BAM a Golden Globe & an Oscar under her chin at the same year lol

Helen Mirren winning was a darn given, even the heffa knew it even b4 the nominations came out DUH lol which's Well deserved.

As for Best Actor, i was really torn between Leo & Whittaker, both delivered incredible performances.

On a side note, awww @ Leo tearing up during Whittaker's speech

i dunno...i really though meryl had a chance, even though i didn't think her role in 'devil wears prada' was anything special. still, it was meryl streep, and meryl has a habit of winning awards.

to be honest, i didn't like Prada being up there in the category to begin with.

Yes, the woman is legenderay and can pull off whatever you throw at her but i thought that film was too teenie to be up there.

no way...in the past films like Pretty Woman, Steel Magnolias and Pirates of the Caribbeans have seen their actors up for Oscars...Streep's performance was totally Oscar worthy...

but, i think the performance is more of a supporting role if you ask me. she would have probably had a better chance of winning if her studio pushed her in that category.

Meryl,,,settling with a supporting actress title? lol Thats TOO blasphemous for Meryl's ego. On a side note, I know somebody will shoot me dead for saying this, but I think the woman is too damn overrated shrug

Word out to Ho, I think Hudson came along way(even though its too overwhelming for a debut role) still I'm not mad @ girlfriend. The per4mance itself is not Oscar worthy,,,but her struggle in the biz is nod I bet Madame Simone is kicking himself in the ding ding right now for snubbing her in AI.
