Older adults often bruise easily from minor injuries, especially injuries to the forearms, hands, legs, and feet. razz

* Infection that causes the buildup of toxin in the blood or tissues (sepsis).
* A bleeding or clotting disorder, such as hemophilia, von Willebrand's disease, or thrombocytopenia.
* Other diseases that affect clotting. Examples include:
o Chronic inflammatory diseases, such as lupus.
o Liver disease, such as cirrhosis.
o Some types of cancer, such as Hodgkin's disease, leukemia, or multiple myeloma.
* Inflammation of a blood vessel (vasculitis).
* Malnutrition, such as deficiencies of vitamins B12, C, or K, or folic acid.

Yes, i do lol and it always happens at work because i bang my elbow from stretching lol or bang my knee when trying to open up the step ladder *smithers...* lol my remedy for minimising the bruise is easy cause i work at an aromatherapy stand. I put German Chamomile in jojoba with Lavender...give it a good rub as soon as i bump myself and the bruise fades away thumbs up!

bloody emoticon edit.

I'd like to add, ONE regular aspirin will throw the platlets off for a week. The count is normal, but they don't "stick". So there's apt to be more bruising if there's an injury.
Same with nonsteroidal anti -inflammatories (NSAIDS) such as naproxsyn and advil. There's mild blood thinning with those drugs. If you ever have surgery, be sure to mention it, if you're taking any of those drugs.
Ginko Bilboa(sp?) also is a blood thinner.
These meds affect either the platlet function or the pro thrombin time and prolong bleeding and increase a bruise.

come to think of it, i don't really bruise at all. i'll bump my leg against something, and all that'll happen is some swelling and a little soreness for a day or two...but no bruising.
