Yes, it is. His delivery is amazing, and his compassion is obvious. I like when he said that humor should have a certain amount of joy to it. I've always liked his longer monologues. They're like extended (almost rambling, though nicely formed) stories. (His skits I'm not so crazy about.) That Johnny Carson "what's in the news today let me make a funny comment" schtick has been ruling the nightlies for too too long.

I think it started out in a very interesting way and I was wondering what conclusions his new guilty feelings had led to, but then he moved on to talk about the alcoholism instead, which was interesting as well but not quite as much, especially since it ended with a pretty flat moral point about being responsible for your actions. Still, kudos for being brave enough to open up in a context like that, and kudos to the audience too for not laughing at all wrong moments which is otherwise sickeningly common in situations like this one.

Thanks boo. You'd be surprised at what American audiences will actually laugh at. The gore-infested films of late (Hostel to name one), depict some of the most discusting scenes of any movie (whether plausible or not doesn't matter to me), and it's distatsteful to know folks go in there and laugh and cheer when victims meet their doom. Especially in the torture scenes. We're like the Romans, and our death-sports may be fictional, but disturbing none the less.

People have almost completely lost their ability to empathize (yes, it is possible to empathize even with a fictional character) and they see amusement in pretty much anything. It's not even about defense mechanisms or nervous laughter anymore, it's just a loss of humanity. I can't say that it only applies to American audiences though. Unfortunately it's pretty universal.

I like this guy.
It seems his point meandered a bit, but his overall intent is admirable. And he said some great, important stuff. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”
