Largo, Florida (a satilite town of Tampabay) will now have it' sfirst transgender City Manager.

Unfortunately, the individual in the story was outed by the St. Petersburg times before he had an opportunity to speak with his wife and 12 year old son (Just how crass can the media be? I mean, the St. Pete times is one of the top 5 newspapers in the US )

Anyways, He had to call together a very quick meeting and announce this. The City's H.R. department is scrambling to councel employees to understand the changes and how they can assist in the transition as smoothly as possible.


I'm all for these folks holding important city positions openly without negative treatment. But can't we allow them to come out openly on their own damn time? I mean, do we have to drag people out into the open like this? He's friggen transgender--not a killer or something. sheesh

Did I read that story correctly? This guy sent an email around the workplace describing his plan BEFORE telling his wife and kid?

I agree that the decision to come out is his own and should be left to him, but you have to question his judgment.

It's much harder to break bad news to those you love and respect if it's news that affects them.


Of course I'm not saying that being transgender is bad news persay, but it certainly would be to your spouse. She's not a prince.orger afterall. Switching sexual orientation wont come easy to her.
