I dont recommend the Christmas Special during social getherings. After intitial laughter and joy, people may become disoriented and then go home...

Jefferson Starship has a music video in it.

6. the empire strikes back
5. return of the jedi
4. a new hope
3. revenge of the sith
2. attack of the clones
1. the phantom menace

there's a really good reason that empire and jedi are sooooo much better than the others... g-luc didn't direct them.

In total agreement wink I actually got deep into the whole series as a result of reading the paperback version of The Empire Strikes Back as a youngling. I was sick in bed, so that book took me and my imagination to a whole different place and time. When I finally saw the movie, it was just like the book, only better.

the biggest mistake of the whole series

. . . was Lucas directing and scripting it, IMHO. He created a wonderful world with several really good characters. He just couldn't get them to dialogue effectively or emote.

Forget Christensen for a minute. A cast featuring good actors like Neeson, Jackson, McDiarmid, McGregor, Smits, Portman, et al. should have been given better words to speak and more freedom to act them out.

I love all of the prequels for different reasons, but the drawbacks are hard to ignore.

Yeah, the dialogue even made Samuel L. Jackson seem stiff, as if he was reading off of a cue card. Believe it or not, Hayden Chrisensen was actually decent in that movie about disgraced journalist Steven (sic) Glass.

You know what pisses me off the most? I like many of you owned almost all of the action figures at one point or another. But like dumbasses, me and my brother would put those poor little guys through hell, ripping there heads off and limbs off and whatnot. And if only I would have had the foresight to leave those things in the package, put them in a safe somewhere and voila 20 years later I would have been rich beyond my wildest dreams.

I still have all of Star Wars toys, and they're in good shape too.

DirectTV has been playing all of the Star Wars Movies for the last month, have I missed an Anniversary or something? Between my brother and myself we generally don't miss the goings on.

I should do that. In the meantime, I wonder what my "Gigli" action figures are worth?

Are we all in agreement that every bit of new footage added to the original trilogy sucks big time. All of it. The worst is the end of "Jedi" where they not only butcher the Ewok celebration song (the only redeeming thing they did) they show Hayden standing next to Yoda and Obi-Wan in Luke's vision. WTF!!!

And Han DID shoot first. So what!

i tried. i really did try and watch the last one that came out, whatever it was. see? blotted it from my mind.

anyway i tried to watch it but kept falling asleep, or wandering off to do things that were more interesting, like laundry and pencil sharpening.

totally. a big part of the reason i like the orginals and not the new is they had limitations of illusion they were working under, and it makes the movies more amazing to see these imaginative things brought to life. the new ones are just actors in front of a blue screen.

there is such a thing as too much CGI.

seeing the CGI invading the originals kind of ruined them a little.

You didn't lose your hand, too, did you? smile

I was buying a lot of the new stuff from the original trilogy that's been coming out the past 10 years, but I stopped after it got to be too much. I'll still buy the lightsabers, though. jedi

I was even bothered by the little changes Lucas made. Every movie now has some jackass alien in the background falling or running into something and shrieking.

Leave well enough alone George. If you want to revisit your movies go back and give I-III a plot. Or better acting. Or give us 20 additional minutes of Darth Maul kicking ass.
