1) Empire Strikes Back(5 stars/classic) - much darker than the first, with Darth Vader at his best. Still the greatest of all the SW films
2) A New Hope(4 stars/excellent) - I agree with Gotta, it's dated & timeless at the same time. 3) Revenge of the Sith(3 stars/good) - forget Hayden Christensen(WTF did Lucas see in him, anyway?) and the silly love story, Ian MacDermid is the star of this movie. Watching him go from Palpatine to the Emperor(and screwing everyone over) is priceless. 4) Return of the Care Bears(2 & one half stars/fair) - this movie should have been as good as Empire & Hope, but here is where Lucas started to lose it. Those fuggin' Ewoks ruined the whole damn movie - Ewoks vs. Stormtroopers? Yeah, right. Lucas should have stuck to his original idea and used Wookies. 5) Attack of the Clones(1 star/poor) - lots of special effects, and Yoda whippin' ass, but that's it. The love dialogue is painful & pitiful. 6) The Phantom Menace(0 stars - zzzzz) - Just fast-forward to the three-way lightsaber battle. That's the only worthwhile thing to watch in this snoozefest. Sixteen years since Jedi and this is the best Lucas can do? And don't get me started on Stepin' Fetchit in space.

Agree with basically everything you say, especially about ROTJ & ewoks. Also it rehashes both New Hope (destroy Death Star) and Empire (Vadar/Luke battle) I actually enjoyed Attack of the Clones when it came out, and could barely sit through it recently. My Legacy

What was Lucas smoking when he picked Hayden Christensen for the critical role of Anakin Skywalker? Keanu Reeves has more acting ability than that cat - dayum.

It's the biggest mistake of the whole series. Much worse that Jar Jar. It makes me question Lucas' competance. My Legacy

V -- the most complete science fiction movie ever made.
IV -- how can we not make room towards the top for the movie that introduced a different world with living, breathing characters while drawing on traditional notions of good and evil, myth and spirituality, to our culture? III -- while not greatly executed, it's effective. VI -- below III for Ewoks, a Han Solo going through the motions, and other nits. Still I like it better than III. II -- the "romantic storyline" was DOA. the Jango-Obi Wan confrontations were good, as well as the fight sequences. I -- weighed down by space minstrel Jar Jar Binks and a lead-footed script. But introduced the baddest cat in the SW universe in Darth Maul, and contains some of the best saber duels. Duels: Vader-Luke Ep V Maul--Obi-Wan--Qui-Gon Ep I Vader-Luke Ep VI Yoda-Sidious Ep III Sidious-Windu Ep III Yoda-Dooku Ep II Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

He just couldn't get them to dialogue effectively or emote. Forget Christensen for a minute. A cast featuring good actors like Neeson, Jackson, McDiarmid, McGregor, Smits, Portman, et al. should have been given better words to speak and more freedom to act them out. I love all of the prequels for different reasons, but the drawbacks are hard to ignore. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Let the truth be known that Obi-Wan never won a duel with skill, but with knowledge and use of the Force. I wonder if it's our age and how important the movies were when they first came out. Have you watched them in sequential order? It's just the in me that will make me spend a long weekend doing this. Yo! GottaLetitgo, what am I, talking to myself here or what? I wrote this shit this morning,

I'm going to close my eyes so I stop seeing the words that say "Return of the Jedi"! It's so bad. It makes me depressed. Watch it again... the worst of all of them, the worst action pieces, the worst storyline, the stiffest characters saying the stupidest things... horrible concepts.... From the Ewoks to ObiWan's glimmering ghost meandering around Degoba the soundstage whilst talking of "a certain point of view" to cover Lucas's ass for destroying the perfect paternal murder angst mythos he created in Star Wars.
Vader looks like a nice old humpty dumpty.... NO! Star Wars. When this came out it was stand alone. He added the "episode 4 a New Hope" on the re-issued prints after 1977. I read that novel so many times as 3rd grader. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

You make a good point. 4-6 were full of life at least, and 1-2 (and much of 3) were ultimately devoid of it because of Lucas' writing & directing. Actually Hayden had some life, it just made me want to end my own. My Legacy
