Opinions needed..please

Okay, so I have been working a job that I wanted (needed) for the last month, and it has been extremely physically challenging given the health (back) problems that I suffer from. And today I ask my supervisor if I could possibly change positions to another job in the company due to the physical exertion that it's causing, so he goes and talks to the H.R. person, who in turn, instead of changing my position, tells him to let me go, so that I am not a liability to the company should any further problems arise! mad..so now I am jobless (that royaly sucks), but I am trying to be positive and think okay, now this could have happen for a number of reasons, 1 maybe the good Lord knew it would further damage my back down the road, 2 there may be a better job out there. Which I talk to my daughters boyfriends mother, she has a great job, making good $$ doing data entry @ the P.O., and she hooked me up with some information and it could be a promising thing...
Tell me, should I feel bad, or should I try to be as optimistic as I can about this unfortunate event? IF I would've known they were gonna can me, I would've just kept my mouth shut, but I thought I would just get to change positions disbelief

Being out of work can be stressful enough, it's true, and what your company did was low and self-serving. But try not to use up valuable energy being upset over what's transpired because reality is that circumstances now are what they are no matter how you feel. Why not do yourself, your mental health and your spirit a favor and choose to be in the latter, more positive, frame of mind?

A year from now, you might well be looking back at this job dismissal and thanking the universe for it because it was the very catalyst which brought you to a far better place in your life and to another job which won't be potentially detrimental to your physical well-being.

Good luck to you. rose

You already know this, but as far as temporary probation is applicable, new employees are usually required to sign agreements with companies claiming the company is not required to divulge reasoning as to terminations within the probation.

Because hisfan4ever knows the reason, however, maybe he/she has a case. I highly doubt it, though. It's common knowledge when you're on probation to keep your mouth shut if your intent is to keep the job. Back injuries are a special case, of course, and it makes me wonder if hisfan4ever informed the employer of this problem before/on the hire date.

you don't mention if you are employed full time at this place or just temporarily. that makes a big difference.

the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Minnesota Human Rights Act and the Family Medical Leave Act all offer protections for an employee who needs medical accommodations.

a full-time employee has a right to ask a supervisor for medical accommodation if the circumstances are right. (i.e. full-time employee, doctor's report to substantiate the request, etc.).

otherwise, imo you should run like heck from a job that causes you physical injury, especially to your back. temp agencies have varieties of positions available all the time. try your luck at a better gig, imo. and good luck rose

right. it also gets complicated if the injuries are job-related. actually, depending on circumstances and individual situation it's complicated no matter what. an attorney who handles employment law would be the person to consult.

I was full time, not temp, nor temp to hire. I didn't say or sign anything before being hired on @ this company., I never thought that I would encounter the sort of "problems" that came up. I found it rather odd that the HR didn't even ask MY side of the story. shrug..All I got was " since you (me) said that this job was causing you physical discomfort, the company said I need to let you go because you could be a liability to them in the future"..which to me says they were either afraid that I would try to get workers comp and claim the original problem was caused from that job, or afraid that if I really injured my back that I would sue them??? Not sure exactly what they were thinking...
thank you for your help..long term I probably am better off...;lol

wow. you might want to take that to qualified employment attorney to evaluate the situation. but, it sounds like a bad situation anyway so you're better off with another job. rose
