Random Memories??

so this morning a completely random memory popped into my head. art class in 4th or 5th grade. a girl drew a picture of a car turning a corner and made a bend in the middle of the car. i remember thinking a car doesn't go like that, and she must be kind of dumb to draw it like that. then i felt bad for thinking she was dumb.

i have NO idea where that memory came from. does anyone else have random memories come up? or am i the only weird one?

Okay, this is gonna seem weird, but it's totally true.

When I was little (I'm thinkin' I was in like KG)

I have this memory of my parents taking me to the hospital and I got all kinds of tests done, and I remember sitting for a long time getting all these wires put on my head.

I asked my mom about this a couple times, and every time I do she gives me a different story about it.

Another KG memory.
They used to take me to the nurses office and this lady would sit there with me and make me play with blocks and stuff.
Come to think of it.....rite around the time of the wires to my head thing.

Do you think I'm retarded?!?!?!?!?!?!

Since I don't have much of a present and the future looks hazy at best, the past is what attracts my thoughts these days. I relive random memories all the time, some good and others not good at all. A big problem is that the good ones often make me feel nostalgic and the sadness that they are things of the past triumphs over the happiness that they happened in the first place.

One memory that made me nostalgic recently was from my time at Student Radio, around ten years ago. We were doing a late night show and I had prepared the whole music playlist, which was packed with moody tracks from the Bristol scene as well as some Kruder & Dorfmeister and Wiseguys stuff. We turned off the lights in the studio and lit candles instead. It was so cozy and the talks we did between the tracks went smoothly and were interesting. A lot of listeners called in and had comments. It was just one of those magic nights that are difficult to explain to others. And yet I just did. Oh well. You just have to take my word for it that it was nice.

Everyone is listing all these innocent memories, and I'm putting traumatic ones. lol

Every time I go to my hometown to visit my brother or gram, I remember how about 12 of the neighborhood boys loced me inside an old van and wouldn't let me out unless I took my pants off.

I was scared about not getting home in time for dinner so I did it.

cool Ahhhh, memories. lol

certain things, people or places will remind me of rooms or stretches of road from my youth. i don't know what the triggers are or why, but sometimes i'll be in a situation where i can't stop thinking about a certain stretch of road we'd always drive along when i was a kid, or my grandparents' old living room. shrug

i really don't remember much from my childhood. my sister seems to remember quite a bit, and she'll ask me about something that was a regular part of our lives and i have no idea what she's talking about. sometimes i feel like i'm missing half of my life b/c i can't remember it. confused

then a random memory will pop up, like being knocked down by our big white dog when i was 3 or 4 and crying til my mom came to pick me up. or the teeter-totter that my mom made out of a few tires and a long plank that fell apart b/c we were playing too rough on it. or swinging a bucket full of water to see if the water would spill out. (first experience with centrifugal force!)

I get that one too, maybe there are some kind of subliminal messages attached like dream analysis?

well, i just figure that you experience your most intense emotions when you're a child, because you haven't had a lot of experience with emotions yet and of course, when you're feeling extreme elation or sadness or frustration or hilarity or whatEVER, of course the surroundings of those moments would stick with you. i had a lot of good christmases in my grandparents' living room, so it's probably why that interior pops into my memory so much. couldn't tell you why about the stretches of road though. shrug
