Cancer

Cancer

It surrounds my life, marks my highs and lows. It confuses me, inspires me, angers me and leaves me in awe.

It sets targets for me each morning and gives me nightmares while I sleep. I laugh at its vulnerability under my control and cry as it merciless takes another victim, my friend.

I sit on the org, another person dies. I waste time at work, another person dies. I daydream, another person dies. Someone else’s mother, someone else’s friend.

It amazes me how many people this disease touches, directly and indirectly. Indiscriminately carving its way through peoples lives. Shaping those it leaves behind, hacking down those it chooses, and sparing the few.

Can the few become the majority, can it be turned around?

“It”, this loss of control, this abnormal that comes from within, from normal.

It has defined my life, and it continues to do so. It never ceases to surprise me even when I know how it works, what to expect from it.

Who will be next, will it take me? Oh the irony, of course it will.

Steve, I dunno how much truth there is in this, but recently I heard that around 80% of cancer cases are triggered by stress or grief.
As an example, say, the loss of a loved one.
Have you heard about this and do you think there could be some truth to it?

Thanks for the compliments but thats not what this is about. I am angry and struggling at the mo, and threw this together to vent and see what conversation comes from it. Productivity from adversity, if you will. Sharing stories perhaps? Depressing, probably.

Don't believe everything you read by "Scientists" we are not to be trusted lol There is probably some evidence to back this up, certainly it can exacerbate the disease and there is plenty of evidence for that. I am not sure about triggers though. Generally, healthy stress free life is good, but even then it can bite you in the ass.

Thanks for answering, man. It just got me wondering about the link between a healthy mind and a healthy body.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there is indeed some truth to it.

So your like a specialist?

Okay, is it true that if you have cancer and its not known yet, and you get cut open for say an aortic anuerism, the cancer can spread like wild fire from the air hitting it?

I am not a surgeon but I would say that there is an element of truth to your question, although it varies greatly. Not so much the air getting to it as the disturbance of the operation possibly.

Okay, and if you had cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes, and to all kinds of your organs and stuff. And you were getting the aneurism surgery. And you were opened from up near your chest down to you groin, would the doctors SEE the cancer?

i would imagine burnout is very common in a field where you see a tremendous amount of suffering on an ongoing basis.

My granmother has had it cut out of her a few times. She survives because of what your field has come up with. She is 90 soon.

Chin up..... Its bound to run you over here and there. Perhaps it will provide a fresh prospective on the other end.

Mach

my life in the past yr has been turned around, turned upside down and inside out by it

I hurt
I rage
I hope
I cry
I laugh

I grow

parts of me die

I embrace it
I hate it
I have compassion surrounding it

all these things I go through several times each day

my life will never be the same ...though deeply i am blessed and understand this

I feel wounded I feel raw ... my heart and head throbs I cant sleep

and I rejoice
