That's great news!

Are you going to look into some training, though? He could probably be helped, and there's always a risk of him getting loose. I'd hate anything to happen.

We're looking into it. So far the only places and trainers I've been able to get ahold of say they only do group classes, which I thought was a bit strange. But I've still got a few to call, so hopefully something good will come up.

nod

I can't imagine what I'd do if I'd had to get rid of him. Like I said, the two dogs I had before, while it was still hard to let them go, I knew it was the right thing. But Simon I don't think deserved to be put down just for behaving the way years of selective breeding has ensured he will. JRT's were designed to be hunters and ratters before they were ever popular as pets. He probably just thought that other dog would make a fine catch for dinner.

Exactly. They're both small dogs, but that doesn't make it any better of an idea. I've spoken to the lady since, and she's not mad or upset about what happened. Said she'd had 40+ years handling small breeds like terriers, so she understood Simon was only doing what he thought he was supposed to when he saw a moving animal. But knowing that she's had so many years around dogs, I've got to wonder what she was thinking, trying to seperate them?

The neighbour -a fairly big guy -who broke it up had the right idea: just throw them both in the creek and hope that shocks them out of it. It worked. nod
