It's on strict condition, of course. We have to build a dog run in the backyard, and he's not to be allowed outside offleash at all for 3 years, and they'll be allowed to do random checks to be sure we're complying. I'm so incredibly happy though! Thanks so much you guys for all your support. OMG this is brilliant news. I'm so pleased for you and Simon. well yeah, it's good news surely but it's still a bit silly to me that they would do unexpected check ups on a jack russel when they somehow lose all track of childmolesters once they get out of jail having said that, i'm sure simon will do well with meow85 and in time his attitude will change from being around a loving, caring environment. if you have a hard time keeping him on the leash because he's got a natural desire to run, just take him cycling. start it up slow if you're both not used to it. my dog, a jack russel mix, is fairly calm and quite a puss puss in behaviour but sometimes he just gets the urge to run very very hard and that's when i take him out cycling. he can actually outrun me, cycling fast as i can and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Maybe if I can persuade someone to drive us out to the 'burbs or even beyond city limits once in a while I could swing it. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I'm so incredibly happy though! Thanks so much you guys for all your support. I just found out that I've got to get my Jack Russell, Simon put down. He got loose from the backyard after a strong wind blew the gate open, and charged at another dog. The other dog had been out walking with it's owner, an older lady. The woman tried to seperate the fighting dogs, getting her hand bitten by one of them in the process. A crowd of people gathered quickly and a man managed to seperate them by throwing both dogs into a nearby creek. I just got Simon at the beginning of January. He came to me from a Jack Russell Rescue group. I knew that he'd had a history of aggressive behaviour toward other dogs when I first got him -behaviour that's pretty common in JRT's. He never had and still hasn't ever had problems with people. Always very friendly and happy. Even so, I took every precaution I knew was needed for a dog like this. Supervised him when he was outside in the backyard, had him wearing a muzzle when out for walks, avoided areas I knew there'd be other dogs, crossing the road or switching directions if we did come across another dog on a walk. I did everything I could. I'd had experience with JRT's before, as the pair of dogs I'd had my entire life were Jack mixes. But because this has happened before, there are no other options. I've already spoken to the rescue group I got him from and city bylaw officials. This was his last chance. I'm really upset about this. I've only had Simon for just over a month, but he was like my kid. [Edited 2/22/07 0:01am] [/quote GREAT NEWS GIVE SIMON A BONE FROM ME Down Boy good doggie Reality is an illusion

I'm sure I'll think of something. There's a big open field out beside the dump where a farm used to be. Maybe I could try taking him out there. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I've got a buddy who does that for his dog, a 3 legged JRT. It's worth a shot. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
