that would be so cool. i would love to see it. hiya just pack your suitcase i'll be waiting to show you all the sights i saw glimmers of purple lights one time and summer before last the whole sky looked like it was a green satin scarf shimmering... but anx i am very envious of the whole volcanic mineral spa thing... and of course purplehippie! we demand a hole photo trip diary! I"ve seen it a hadnful of times. The first was, of course, the most amazing. I was about 14 and we were drving home from a movie late at night. We pulled over to the side of the road to get out and just stare for a while. The entire sky was lit up with blues and greens (and I think even some pink/red). It really was breath-taking. |

Anx is probably like because you can see from Chicago every night. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

And I doubt you could see it from any sizable city with all the light pollution. The times I've seen it have been either far out in the suburbs (which aren't as bad) or even rural areas on road trips and such. |

i saw something like an aurora borealis, but it was in college and i'm pretty sure it wasn't an act of nature, since i don't think the northern lights would pulsate in time with a deee-lite album.

Björk must have done wonders to tourism in Iceland.
Remember to take the local "björk-ride" once you get there. It's an arranged trip through the glaciers on a sledge pulled by gnomish-looking icelandic women.

not that i'm complaining! thank you thank you thank you! i've been trying to see if there are any music calendars online that go into mid-march, and i've also been curious about the weather out there recently (which i hear hasn't been so bad, no? yes?) but my lazy butt can do a little googling and figure out the weather thing. most importantly, will you be up for some drinkin' and wrecka stow browsing in a few weekends? (not necessarily in that order) HELL YES! I don't know if I'm working on that particular Saturday but at the very least I can show you which places to go to downtown and of course I'm up for some drinkin' on Saturday (or Friday) evening... I don't know of any big events currently scheduled for that weekend but there's always something interesting to look out for. I'd recommend checking out the Reykjavik Grapevine... the link above features the latest issue in PDF format... on pages 10 and 11 you can see the listings for events in February and early March, just to give you a taste of what to expect.

I had seen it several times as a kid backpacking in Canada, and was like, "Hey, that's aurora!" My friend couldn't believe it and we debated it for a long time . After the trip she went to the library and did research on it, and found photos that looked exactly like what we saw.

But they were like strips stretched across the whole canopy of the sky, not coming out of the horizon. And they seemed so close, right in front of our face, we were so high up.
