I just did this this weekend. I got rid of about five pairs of pants and ten t-shirts.

But I have today off, so I'm going to do another place using the methods on the site suggested by ZombieKitten.

I just was at my brother's house, and they're putting it on the market soon. They had completely gotten rid of all clutter. It looked great, but you should see their garage. With all the crap from 2 toddlers, there was no room for a car!

I've started too...I've got nearly a garbage bag of clothes ready to give to charity. When I had my fire most of my clothes were salvagable so I took more with me to wash/restore than I should have (these were things I should have donated a while back and I think I just wanted things that were mine to hold onto). So, I'm giving them to the Salvation Army.

I get rid of things daily, however if anyone is gettin rid of an older version of Microsoft office, I'll pay to have it shipped here...
I am also a member of the freecycle network., its a group where people from your surrounding area offer stuff to others that they no longer want or need so instead of it going to landfills or where ever, someone who actually needs something you have can get it for FREE. check it out www.freecycle.com biggrin

1 deck miss cleo tarot cards (which i thought were kitschy at the time and a steal for a dollar, but they are SO UGLY)

1 VHS tape "no more tears", featuring jan crouch

1 floor length performance fleece grey david bowie "reality" magician's robe looking thing that i got as a gift and i don't know what to do with

1 knit amoeba looking thing made for me by an ex

1 "buy one, get one 1/2 off" coupon for local steakhouse

1 copy, "infinite jest" - let's face it, if i can barely get through an imago post, i'm not gonna be reading this. lol

1 garlic mincer crushy thing, which i never use because i am lazy and like the stuff in the jar

1 tube mud facial stuff which is kinda cool but i never use

1 half-bottle of stanley steemer cleaning fluid (shit ain't cheep)

1 mostly-burned coffee candle - i think it might have half an hour left to it, and there are still some beans in there, you can cover them in chocolate and eat them if you wash the wax off first.

I have actual garbage here.

I replaced my car deck in December and I have the original clunker (useless) just sitting here.

So there's that. Also I got a Mac computer in September and never knew what to do with this old bubble jet printer.

Seriously, I don't think you can environmentally just put those things in the garbage?

depends on the environment. if you were on the moon, the stuff would probably just float out of the trash can.

I piled all of my t-shirts and trashed the ones that appeared farthest-from-white to near-white. nod barf

I just went through a horrible pile of paper that needed shredding, envelopes that hand't been opened, phone numbers with no names attached, etc.

My shredder won't go through unopened envelopes that's too thick for it. I need a new one.

Interesting ~ just came across this in my email ~~~~~

To live more simply is to unburden our lives -- to live more lightly, cleanly, aerodynamically. It is to establish a more direct, unpretentious and unencumbered relationship with all aspects of our lives: the things that we consume, the work that we do, our relationships with others, our connections with nature and the cosmos, and more. --Duane Elgin

I'm going to have to go into therapy after this thread. I absolutely keep EVERYTHING. I feel so guilty if I throw stuff out. I swear I have about 30 pairs of shoes under my bed and I NEED to get rid of them but can't.

I need an intervention....

This is my horoscope for tomorrow...

As with Capricorn you could find you are impelled to cast a somewhat critical eye over your immediate environment, and with spring just around the corner what better way to revitalize your space than by getting rid of any old junk and clutter that you just don’t need anymore!
