I must be in a bad mood. I can't decide whether the idea of being gone for a year and having nobody particularly notice or care sounds terribly lonely, or kind of pleasant and peaceful.

comfort

i think it's a bit of both.

seriously, 9s! This man had to be extremely isolated or something. It just doesn't make sense that you can disappear for a year and NOBODY notice. confuse

What I'd like to know is what brand of TV he had, because one that still works after 365/24/7 is not bad!

Surely his local shop would have noticed selling less cabbage and corned beef and alerted the authorities.

This story is yet another example of what (sadly) happens to people who lock themselves away from the world....no one missed this guy or noticed that he wasn't out and about....just silently went away....this dude could have held the secrets of the world in his head, but he locked himself away....

so here's a rose for everyone.....go out into the world and just enjoy it....don't end up mummyfied in front of the boobtube.....

This was on the local news last night. The story goes that the deceased's mail had been stopped after the carrier noticed it piling up and had just assumed he was only a summer resident. The man's son was notified and he said that his father had chosen to isolate himself from the rest of his family which is why no relatives checked on him. His house was also pretty far away from neighbors which is why no one noticed any smell.

Oh, I had assumed it was an apartment. How did they get a report of burst pipes then? ...AND what about his lawn? Surely, someone would have thought something was up if it had been growing unchecked the whole year.

It's been freezing here in New York for the last week so you could see the huge buildup of ice on the outside of his house from the burst pipe. I don't remember who got close enough to his house to see it.
