For the rest, I completely agree with what jtfolden has posted!

Easy to use, great to look at, good fun! And everyone knows you should never get rid of your back up files on your hard-drive.... [Edited 2/16/07 17:51pm] At the time, I didn't have the drive space to hog up all of those GBs. Most of what's on my iPod is on cd, so it's not so much that I'm losing much.....it's just having to upload the shit again. I kinda wanna try that Creative Zen widescreen anyway.....so maybe this is my excuse to try something new. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Of course, there's always a bad 'apple in the bunch' but people who have them die right and left are just cursed, imo. or apples.....someone told me that in 2004 there were a bunch of defective ones. Maybe mine was one of them.....figures. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

i know it's a gamble, but sometimes buying the extra warranty is worth it, 'cuz they replace no questions asked. i think it costs $60 for 2 years.
though they replace the pod you originally owned. i took my mini back when the first nanos came out thinking that's what they were gonna replace my mini with...NOPE!!! dude came back with a mini, same color and eerthang.

Wishful thinking. Well my warranty is up. It's a little over two years old. I received it as a Christmas gift, so no extended warranty or anything. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Actually, there is a singular model, the 2004 20/40GB "Click Wheel" version, that had a notably bad rating - something like 29% of surveyed buyers who owned the 40GB claimed a problem (this includes actual product defects and user accidents). My assumption is that it must have had something to do with the hard drive itself (I'm not sure who manufactured that - possibly Toshiba). It's really odd. The 60GB Video model released a year later had a listed failure rate of 3.2% in comparison. iPod Nano's had a 3-4% rate, too. I think the industry standard failure rate for electronics is along the lines of 15%.

It's my understanding that HP branded iPods were manufactured in the same factories as normal ones, essentially just the back of the case and packing was different. Although, it WOULD be interesting to see if there was a failure rate difference between HP branded and Apple branded versions within the same model line OR if there were any particular mechanical changes or substitutions made due to the contract. The iPod deal with HP itself, however, is dead because the lady that set it up was later essentially ousted from her position in the company.
