On April 13, 2036 (4 days before my birthday, damn it) a big asteroid may possibly hit the earth, potentially causing mayhem and destruction. Sure the scientists are downplaying it with their "facts" and "evidence" but I think it is going to mess us all up. I have decided I am not going to wait until this bleak day to prepare. I have already taken all of my money out of the bank, purchased several hundred MREs and begun construction on an asteroid shelter. I am not sure how deep I need to dig to build an effective asteroid shelter and unfortunately I think there are a lot of pipes in my yard because they told us when we bought the house that we would not be able to build an in-ground pool. I am undaunted. I am not going to let this mother take me down baby!

I was watching the news with a friend the other day and we realized that it was all about war, flooding, starvation and terrorism. Then we couldn't help but laugh joylessly when they finished off with "...and in other news, an asteroid might destroy the planet".

all we need is a giant poster of a giant spider, big enough to cover the planet and then, when that asteroid comes close enough to see that it is about to crash into a giant space spider it will swerve away and continue harmlessly off into the stars.
